These rugs originate from the Azilal region located in the remote High Atlas mountains. Azilal rugs are made from virgin raw wool by alternating composed patterns of one single knotted line and one or two woven lines, according to a cultural ritual that mothers pass down to daughters for generations. Each rug is hand-knotted by Berber Women in Morocco on a loom. All are unique and each design has a special meaning.

The rug combines irregular and abstract patterns with numerous Berber symbols and diamond-based graphics. This rug offers an extraordinary combination of minimalism and inventive patterns, which continues to allure people’s imagination and inspire contemporary interiors.
