To all the dads who taught us how to shuck an oyster, showed us how to rig a sail, and helped us persevere through treacherous waters: today we make a point to say thank you, because we don’t say it nearly enough.
Happy Father’s Day from Quaker Marine.

For summer, we’ve introduced an assortment of graphic tees inspired by the nautical ephemera we’ve amassed over the decades.

Available online at quakermarine.com and in-store at 117 Greenpoint Ave.
Last month, we partnered with the folks at to bring an assortment of our signature longbills to Japan.
The collection sold out before we had a chance to make too much noise about it, but we wanted to share some of our favorite longbill looks from the Beams team in the weeks since the release.
Stay tuned for more… 🤝
Memorial Day is here – the unofficial start of summertime shenanigans. To kick off the season, the QMS team has assembled a list of our go-to summer recommendations: albums, TV shows, cocktails, poolside garb, and more.

We’re excited to announce the opening of our QMS Flagship Store in Greenpoint, Brooklyn – a neighborhood we know and love, with maritime roots.
After several pop-ups around the city over the years, we’ve chosen to anchor ourselves in this North Brooklyn locale, just down the block from our Greenpoint Ave offices.
Hop off the G Train and pop in on your way to Transmitter Park to peruse our newest styles, QMS classics, and in-store exclusives (or just to say hi). We’ll see you soon.

Our take on the 1800s French working class uniforms serves as a practical, protective piece of outerwear that can stand in for a sports jacket in a pinch.
This spring, we’ve updated this best-selling style in a colorful range of broken-in herringbone twill.
Available now on quakermarine.com and in our North Fork outpost in Southold, NY.
In archives at the Quaker Marine office, we still have one of the original print catalogs from the 1950s. The brand was in its infancy, selling an assortment of yachting accoutrements for the discerning waterman, and of course, some long-billed caps.
Over 70 years later, we still find a print catalog compelling. So we packed up at the Brooklyn office and went down to Boca Grande, Florida to shoot our first one in decades for the spring season.
Check your mailbox this week, and get ready for sunnier days ahead.
The El Capitan hat from our Havana collection is inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s captain, Gregorio Fuentes, who accompanied Hemingway aboard Pilar during his years sport fishing in Cuba.
Fuentes lived to 104 years old. He spent most of his life and eventually passed in Cojimar, Cuba, where Hemingway kept Pilar. This small fishing village east of Havana’s center became the inspiration for the setting of Hemingway’s great novel The Old Man and the Sea.
Walking around Cojimar, you don’t have to look too hard to get a sense of Fuentes’s legacy. When we stopped off for a mid-day cerveza to beat the heat, we noticed a small oil painting on the wall of the bar with the great captain in his favorite hat.
15% of sales of this hat and the rest of our Havana collection benefit the Finca Vigía Foundation. Learn more and shop now at quakermarine.com. Link in bio.
This past spring, we took a trip down to Havana with our good friend Hermes Mallea, a Cuban American architect and board member of the Finca Vigía Foundation.
This foundation’s mission is to provide the research and technical assistance necessary to restore and preserve Ernest Hemingway’s home and its contents at Finca Vigía. We had seen photos of the storied estate, but couldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit in-person, especially with an all-access pass to the vault of Hemingway artifacts (including some familiar-looking longbills).
We developed a capsule collection of hats and apparel inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s time in Cuba, but that remains as relevant as ever today. 15% of sales from this collection will benefit the Finca Vigía Foundation to support their ongoing work.

It’s been a long week, so no judgement if you jump the gun on happy hour. We certainly have.
Cheers, folks.
Introducing the newest addition to our sea-washed shirting program. This shirt has a western-style yoke with fabric cut on the bias. Like all of our sea-washed shirting, it is easy-wearing and can take an iron, but doesn’t need it.
Made in Portugal from a range of fine cotton poplin, royal oxford, and chambray with a tailored fit that is well-suited for dressing up or down.
Consider this the layering equivalent of a Swiss Army Knife. Our quilted vest is made from water-resistant nylon with lightweight insulation that keeps warm and looks sharp. It has enough substance to stand alone as an outer layer, but is sleek enough to wear as a mid layer beneath your favorite jacket or rain shell for those April showers.
Available in 3 colors and complete with a unique diamond quilting pattern, dual front snaps, and front patch pockets.
Setting the clock forward always feels like the real start of spring. But sometimes the weather takes a while to catch up to the mindset.
That’s why we’ve introduced a capsule of transitional outerwear to help you fully embrace the season, whatever the weather may bring.

We set out to make a do-it-all alternative to jeans, that have staying power and can dress up or down with ease. Our double knee pant does just that.
Each pair is made from a durable brushed canvas that feels perfectly broken-in from the very first wear. The knees are reinforced and seams are triple stitched so you can live in these for years to come. But unlike your standard carpenter jean, they can look quite polished with the right pair of shoes and a sport coat.
Available now online at quakermarine.com and in-store at our Southold outpost.
This past summer, QMS Crew member Thomas took a trip up to Jasper National Park in Alberta, where he put some QMS gear to the test while trout fishing on Maligne Lake.

New for spring, these Guatemalan belts are crafted using natural leather that will develop a unique patina over time. Introducing the Rangerly Jacket — an all-season workhorse with design notes from an old hunting jacket. It is made from durable heavyweight brushed canvas with a corduroy collar, and has a slightly cropped body length that looks sharp on its own or layered up on colder days.
We kept the original hunting detail of a “game” pocket on the inside back. Originally used for hauling back the fruits of a successful hunt, this pocket is ideal for storing an extra layer on a spring day or carrying some light reading to the coffee shop.
Available now at quakermarine.com and in our North Fork Outpost in Southold, NY.
February weather can be tough to plan for. When the sun peeks out, it can feel downright spring-like, but when the wind blows and flurries fall we’re reminded it’s still winter.
The good news: our Fisherman’s Sweater is back just in the nick of time. It is knit from chunky 100% cotton yarn that is breathable enough to handle fluctuating temps while keeping you reliably cozy, and the rollneck provides just enough protection from the elements.
Available now at quakermarine.com and at our North Fork outpost in Southold, NY.
These photos from the showcase members of the Coney Island Polar Bear Club — the oldest continuous winter swimming association in the United States — throughout their 120 year history.
Every Sunday from November through April, members swim in the Atlantic Ocean at Coney Island. But on New Year’s Day, they encourage any and all brave souls to come out for a plunge and a bracing start to the year.
Who out there is polar plunging today to start 2024?

The CPO shirt is quintessential sea-faring outerwear. Traditionally, these heavy wool shirts with chest flap pockets were issued to Chief Petty Officers of the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard (hence the CPO name).
Our version requires no such certification, but is made to the same standard. Cut from heavy-duty Melton wool that is rugged and functional, this shirt can still dress up nicely or be worn casually – not just on the high seas.
