Many of you know about my deep adoration and attachment to all things Joni (Mitchell that is).
and a smaller few know I've been working on an arrangement of a Joni Mitchell song for an emotional documentary in the works.
Days ago Wanderlust Theatre Co. of NYC member, Celisse Henderson, (2005, our music of Andrew Lloyd Webber tour in El Salvador)
lived her absolute f*$ dream (and mine gahhhhh!) and performed with the "Joni Jam" at the Newport Folk Festival.
For those who haven't already heard about the extraordinary surprise appearance of Joni Mitchell on stage at the Newport Folk Festival...
"The last time Joni performed with guitar in hand in front of a paying audience was 8,660 days ago, on her 55th birthday" according to Mitchell's website.
Still tears in my eyes and my heart beating fast every time I think about this!
I must celebrate Celisse's dream experience and crazy beautiful and moving performance of her incredible interpretation of "Help Me" (with Joni glowing mere feet away). (please watch it below!)

Last night we had an amazing experience performing our show at the Centro Cultural Florencio Sanchez. Our collaboration with La Banda Sinfónica de Montevideo and the multiple municipal choirs has been a dream come true! el Coro Las Voces del Florencio y Coral del Oeste. Además participaron el Coro La Experimental, Coro Procantus, Coro de Escribanos Notarius, Estudio Coral Montevideo, Coro Infantil del Complejo Sacude.

Así terminábamos la segunda función de Memory: Los Musicales de Andrew Lloyd Webber, bajo la dirección de Martín Jorge, en un Teatro Solís colmado y con más de 200 artistas en escena: el elenco de la Banda Sinfónica de Montevideo y de Wanderlust Theatre Co. of NYC, junto a siete coros comunitarios (Coro Las Voces del Florencio, Coral del Oeste, Coro La Experimental, Coro Procantus, Coro de Escribanos Notarius, Estudio Coral Montevideo, Coro Infantil del Complejo Sacude), dirigidos por Esteban Farfán; y Carmen Pi como solista invitada.

Our first full rehearsal with Orchestra and Choirs on Monday!
Here's a clip of the wonderful Montevideo Children's Choir singing "Any Dream Will Do" and teaching Ben his choreography at our first choir rehearsal on Friday.
Everything is BETTER than alright at Memory's first sitzprobe with La Banda Sinfónica. In fact, everything is super. We are so excited to begin this journey of musical theatre in Montevideo, Uruguay.
