I met Charlotte waiting for a chance to be on the next reality artist in 2010. It was after 1am and we waited in line together. We became fast friends. You know that type of person when you first meet them. She was a bright light in my life. I watched her grow in to this magnificent powerful young women. Louis and I were lucky enough to witness Charlotte and Alex’s union. I watched her grow into this extraordinary being, watching her make a difference in the lives of others, including mine. She worked hard at everything that was important to her. She was brilliant, sensitive, and one powerful human. She had inspiration, motivation that inspired so many people. If you were a friend of Charlotte’s you knew she always had your back. She loved being a mom and having Alex as her partner. We shared so many extraordinary times together, the recreation of the last supper, Rush in NY and Miami, at her mom house, figment, art openings, a force and founding member of the LoveYourself Project and we loved just chilling together. She filled my heart with love and joy and I will always remember her. My heart goes out to Alex, Zara and her family. O my dear Charlotte, you will be missed ❤️

Our Story

The Love Yourself Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts and education organization providing community programs which promote self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-esteem and skill building. It is our belief that with a strong relationship to the self, every individual can contribute to a future with loving regard for all living beings and the environment.

Beginning Nov 19, 2010, the Love Yourself team took to the streets and subways of New York City greeting people with messages of kindness and love, distributing over 500 "Love Yourself" stickers and hand-folded hearts, and encouraged people to engage in a conversation about self-love. Since then, similar events have been held in Pakistan, Paris, Luxembourg, West Africa, Florida, Netherlands, Massachusetts, Australia, Iceland, England,Stockholm and across America. We currently have distributed over 750,000 stickers. Check out all the workshops and programs at www.LoveYourselfProject.org

In 2011, the Project began working with children at The Earth School in NYC. Team members helped youngsters (ages 5-12) make origami hearts and facilitated discussions about what it means to ‘love yourself’. Participants shared something they love about themselves and folded the paper into a heart shape. The hearts and messages were presented both visually and aurally. Messages from the project are being posted via Twitter every day @LoveYourselfNYC

The origami hearts were first featured in the “1,000 Hearts” Exhibition as well as the hearts from people all around the world. In 2015, the LYP celebrated it’s 5th year Anniversary with an installation of 5,000 Hearts at BAM. Today our Campaign has grown to “10,000 Hearts.”
