The patient arrived with healthy incisors but had a “gummy” smile that had caused her self-consciousness for a long time.
Crown lengthening, performed by an oral surgeon, involves reducing excess gum tissue and sometimes reshaping the underlying bone to expose more of the tooth’s surface. This procedure is often sought to correct excessive gum tissue that makes teeth appear shorter, enhancing both the aesthetic appearance and overall oral hygiene.
The end result is a patient that can’t wait to show off her beautiful smile. More on this case in an upcoming reel.

A RayFace 200!!
A great new tool beyond traditional CT scanning. It’s a facial mapper that creates realistic 3D images for treatment planning.
Now I can show patients in minutes an accurate final result. They can see how they will look with their potential new smile, and even tailor their surgery to their aesthetic preferences, all in their initial consultation. A game changer.
More on this device tomorrow when I take scans.

Today’s post is about Zirconia dental implants! Zirconia implants offer a metal-free option!
Some patients might have concerns about metal sensitivities or allergies, or they simply prefer a metal-free alternative for holistic reasons. Zirconia also offers other advantages over traditional titanium implants:
Zirconia is white and can appear more tooth-like than metallic titanium, making it more esthetically pleasing. This is especially useful for anterior (front) teeth implants or in cases where the patient has thin gingiva (gums). This can prevent the "graying" or shadowing sometimes seen with titanium implants.
Zirconia is also considered highly biocompatible, which means it can exist in harmony with human tissue without causing harmful reactions. They have the ability to osseointegrate (bond with the bone) much like titanium implants. Some studies also suggest that zirconia may have a lower affinity for bacterial colonization compared to titanium, potentially leading to fewer complications related to bacterial infections.
Some holistic dentistry proponents also prefer zirconia to titanium due to concerns about metal ions, electromagnetic field disturbances, or other holistic health considerations. Zirconia implants are the ideal solution for patients with these emerging concerns.

We had a slightly different surgery today!
Earlobe reconstruction is cosmetic procedure done to fix a torn or stretched earlobe. This type of injury can occur due to various reasons, such as wearing heavy earrings, accidental tearing, or deliberate stretching. The procedure aims to restore the shape, symmetry, and appearance of the earlobe.
In this case a small injury left a tear in this patients earlobe. Scar tissue was removed and the tear was repaired. The ear lobe will fully heal in a few weeks.

Dental implants can reverse the downward spiral that starts with a missing tooth.
Tooth lost is not just a cosmetic concern. It can set off a cascade of events that have far-reaching implications for oral health, functionality, and overall well being.
A missing tooth leaves an immediate gap in the dental arch. This can affect speech, chewing efficiency, and overall appearance, leading to potential psychological impacts such as reduced self-esteem and confidence. A gap can also become a trap for food particles and bacteria. If it's not cleaned properly, it can become a breeding ground for bacteria, leading to gum disease.
Also as time progresses you may notice shifting of adjacent teeth, TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) issues, and difficulty chewing. When a tooth is lost, the neighboring teeth can drift into the vacant space over time. This can lead to a misalignment of the dental arch, which affects the bite (occlusion).
Misaligned teeth can be harder to clean and are more prone to tooth decay and gum disease.
With these combined factors the missing tooth starts a domino effect.
The added stress on the remaining teeth, combined with bone loss and potential gum disease, can lead to further tooth loss. Multiple extractions or missing teeth lead to a reduction in the height of the jawbone causing a sunken appearance to the face, which often makes individuals look older than they are and may cause speech impediments.
Getting an implant as early as possible after losing at tooth is the best preventative care short of having a healthy tooth. Book your consultation with the leading expert in bone grafting and implantology today. DM me for details.

An implant and a healthy tooth. Very different in composition but, when fully healed, very similar in function. A tale of .
Just as tree roots anchor firmly into the ground, dental implants are designed to mimic the natural root structure, providing a stable foundation for replacement teeth. They preserve natural bone and help to stimulate bone growth.
Titanium, commonly used in , is biocompatible, meaning it works harmoniously with our body, much like natural materials in the environment.
Biocompatibility leads to seamless Integration. Nature has a way of integrating seamlessly, and so do dental implants. They fuse with the jawbone over time, becoming a part of you.
By observing and emulating nature, we're able to create solutions that are not only effective but also harmonious with our bodies.

For everyone who is following me and is looking to get Dental Implants we’ll be overviewing the second stage:
After the initial placement of the dental implant, a period of healing is required. This period allows the implant to integrate or "osseointegrate" with the jawbone, creating a solid foundation.
The second stage, usually a few months after the initial surgery, involves placing the abutment (shown above). This component connects the implant to the final prosthetic tooth or teeth.
Advantages of the two stage implant procedure:
* Stability: The abutment acts as a bridge between the implant and the crown. Its secure attachment ensures the stability and functionality of the final prosthetic.
* Aesthetics: Proper placement of the abutment sets the stage for the crown to be aligned with adjacent teeth, ensuring a natural look.
* Customization: Abutments can be tailored to suit the unique dental anatomy of each patient. This customization is key to achieving a comfortable fit and optimal aesthetics.
* Ease of Restoration: Once the abutment is in place, the restorative dentist has a straightforward platform to place the crown, bridge, or denture.
The second stage of dental implants ensures that patients can enjoy a restoration that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing.
Don’t hesitate to contact me for more information or to book a consultation.

For everyone who is following me and is looking to get Dental Implants: ever wondered how a two-stage dental implant procedure works?
It's a tried and true process that ensures less chance of infection and implant failure. It might take longer, but the results are definitely worth it! 🦷👨🏻⚕️
Today we'll talk about the first of two stages: Initial Implant Placement.
The first surgical procedure involves placing the dental implant into the jawbone. The dentist will make an incision in the gum tissue to expose the bone, then drill a hole into the bone where the implant will be placed. The implant, usually made of titanium, is then screwed into the bone.
A cover screw is placed on top of the implant and the gum tissue is stitched back together over the implant. This allows the implant to heal and integrate with the bone, a process known as osseointegration. This healing process can take several months before the second stage, but our Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) bone grafting procedure speeds up patient recovery and can reverse bone loss in some implant candidates.

Jason Sauer’s transformative sculptures, crafted from crashed and painted cars of demolition derbies, merge chaos and beauty. With an olive branch and dove motif symbolizing peace, they embody resilience and renewal amidst destruction. Titled “Peace After Destruction” these works invite contemplation on the interplay between chaos and serenity, transcending adversity through art. Jason Sauer, a decorated army veteran and founder of Most Wanted Fine Art (MWFA), has received numerous accolades, including being honored as a “40 under 40” by Pittsburgh magazine.

Over the past few years, Yoram Chisin has been developing his own shade of blue. His 'Nuclear Blue' is inspired by the unearthly blue glow emitted from water exposed to nuclear radiation, a phenomenon discovered by the Nobel Prize winning physicist, Pavel Alekseyevich Cherenkov.
The colour has become an essential part of Yoram's artistic language, used to explore the strange coexistence of war, trauma and beauty.
Nuclear blue is made from ultramarine pigment combined with resin, a tribute to International Klein Blue. Yoram's layering of paint on the canvas, creates varying depth of paint and colour, creating a meditative environment for the viewer.
