Interior pieces are considered by many schools to be one of the most important works to have in your Art Portfolio.
One way to create an interior is by using collage. Making a Collage for your Art Portfolio is a really great idea, and making a collage is enjoyable and fun. We usually think of a collage as gluing magazine and newspaper cut-outs to a background, but you can also use a lot of different materials- which we love to do in our Portfolio Prep classes.

In Ashcan’s Pre-college Food/Object Study Art Portfolio Prep Class, we set up all different kinds of foods- vegetables, meat, fish, and fruits and objects, and you get to choose the foods and objects you like the most or find most visually appealing. And then arrange them in your own unique way, taking them apart and putting them back together into sculptural objects.
In the class, you choose the foods and objects you like the most and then reimagine them with- “Deconstruction”- by “destroying” the food's natural form, and then “Reconstruction”- where you reconstruct or reassemble. Then, “Recontextualize” - where you reinterpret and recreate.
