SDDS represents dentists from Kings and Richmond Counties and is a component of the American Dental Association and the New York State Dental Association.
The Second District Dental Society (SDDS) represents the dentists from Kings County (Brooklyn) and Richmond County (Staten Island). We have approximately 1,500 members representing close to 70% of all active dentists in these areas. The Society was formed in 1868 and has been an active and committed representative for the dentists of our area since that time. We are the local component of the New
THIS MONTH - Peri-implantitis, an inflammatory disease which impacts the longevity of dental implants and implant-supported prostheses, is a common contributor to implant complications. On Friday, September 20, Dr. Paul Rosen, a clinical professor of periodontics at Rutgers University School of Dental Medicine, will present a six-hour lecture titled, "The Successful Management of Dental Implant Complications."
This course will provide attendees with the latest information on the potential causes of peri-implant complications, discuss various approaches to maintaining failing dental implants and review diagnostic and treatment options. It will take place at Dyker Beach Golf Course in Brooklyn from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. and will offer 6 CE credits.

Calling all SDDS new dentists! Don't miss the first lecture in our 2024 New Dentist Lecture Series, a group of presentations on topics aimed at new graduates and very new practicing dentists. The first lecture in the series will take place on Thursday, April 18 at SDDS Headquarters in Brooklyn from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will feature residents from NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital presenting on "Treating Patients with Medical Conditions and Medications."
Specific topics to be covered include hypertension, bone modifying agents and medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw, antibiotic stewardship and dental management of patients receiving anticoagulant and/or antiplatelet treatment.
