On this auspicious day of Ram Navami, let us reflect on the power we grow by facing difficult times head on and take example from Shri Ram’s resilience.
He was constantly tested, the picture here shows the scene where the divine created an obstacle for him as he was performing Devi puja before engaging Ravan on the battlefield. He had gathered lotus flowers to offer and when he began the puja, Devi made one of them disappear. Realizing his offering was incomplete he took out an arrow and was about to offer his eye, as he was known as Kamal-nayan or lotus-eyed one. That’s when Devi appeared and granted her blessings of victory in battle. God tests us and the situations we face are meant help us reach a place of complete surrender. A place where there is no ego or pride, just love and faith.

Struggle and how we act in the face of challenges determines our character. We develop qualities that are necessary for us to fulfill our highest potential.

The outcome here is up to us. Will we give up or push through? These obstacles cause us to dig deep within to learn discipline, persistence, focus, self-sufficiency and ultimately how to navigate life’s next level of challenges.

Let us not be victims of circumstance and ask why this is happening. Rather, we should take a step back and ask what this experience is teaching us. Really think about it, and you will begin to appreciate the struggle. Diamonds need the pressure to shine. We are all diamonds going through the process.
