oh man, where do I even begin…

this weekend was such a full circle moment for me.

I remember moving to NYC, trying method after method and not feeling like I found anything that I could fully put my heart into so I kept searching.

finally, on my 7th try I landed on

I had been Insta-stalking mckenzie for literally months before she launched her method, all up in her DMs pretty much every day like… “hiiii please teach me!” 🤣

once IBE officially launched, I later found out that I was the very first stylist to sign up… oh and I also signed up to be an educator that day, before even learning the method 😂

Right from the start I knew I wanted to live, breathe, eat and sleep so I dedicated myself to the craft completely, working every single day to perfect this art form.

McKenzie was my mentor, and worked tirelessly with me to answer every little question and give me reassurance and positive reinforcement every single day.

Through the mentorship came an incredible friendship, and I was able to meet her that October in NYC.

We talked about so many things over that breakfast, but what I always remember is us talking about how we never truly felt like we belonged anywhere or never felt welcomed in other parts of the industry. McKenzie shared her dream of only having likeminded individuals make up the IBE fam.

So here we are, nearly 3 years later and my friendship has continued with McKenzie. We have a brand baby together and I am officially an educator for this company. I am humbled to say I am living my wildest dreams.

Meeting all of you this weekend made me realize that her dream was executed. There wasn’t one single mean girl in the entire group this weekend. Just a whole lot of love and support, and man oh man I am STILL riding that high.

I am so thankful to be apart of a community that truly works from an abundance mindset, a community that lifts other stylists up, a community that really does support one another.

I love you all so much and I can’t wait for the year ahead🥂🤍

I think about this quote a lot.

There have been so many times that I have turned a client away due to a mental block thinking “I can’t do this color” or, “I don’t know where to begin with this install”… thinking this is okay, but you cannot let yourself be paralyzed by this fear.

Take a class and immerse yourself in everything there is to know about a subject, and I promise you will feel ready to handle any request that a client comes in with.

I’m sharing all of this with you now because this particular color request was challenging for me.

not only do you have to be incredibly precise with the color application on the head, but you have to be strategic with your weft placement, weft color choices, and choices you make when coloring the hair prior to install.

Each individual weft carried out specific intentions for the end result.

2 rows, 9 wefts, 3 different weft colors, 5 different color formulas, and a whole lotta patience + love went into this transformation… and you know what the best part was?

I realized that this install and color was really not very different from what I do on each client.

Every single transformation I’ve done has the same level of calculation and intention behind every step, I was just more aware of this during this install because it’s not a color I do every day🤪

So take that request that scares you, I promise you will learn so much about yourself and your dedication to your craft in the process.

Want to know a secret?
When I was creating our shade Mika I did it with Lyndsey’s hair in mind 🤫
I always look for a very cool toned bronde for her mane but it’s hard to find with other brands! So, in came Mika 🥰 literally one of my favorite shades in our entire line..... yes I know I say that about all of them. I may be biased 😂

This was such a fun transformation on my best friend in the whole world!

This is the same beautiful client, both pictures have her wearing 120g of hair, 8 wefts, using the installation method...

So why does her hair look so much fuller on the right?

It's because slavic hair is much FINER in strand width than asian hair is. Even though this is the exact same gram weight, due to the finer density they are able to add more strands per weft giving this hair a fuller appearance.
