The CPC Technology Exploration & Skills Training (TEST) Program is officially underway! We kicked started with a Meet & Greet event to welcome our program participants, IBM mentors and representatives to CPC One.

CPC TEST is a collaborative initiative with the IBM SkillsBuild platform to provide community members with mentorship and tech training in Data Science, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Computing, helping them secure internships and new jobs.

We are grateful for the dedication and generosity of the IBM volunteers and program advocates who made this possible!

CPC NY Chinatown Older Adult Center took 100 older adult members on a fun trip to New Jersey for apple picking 🍏, shopping at Walmart, and enjoying a delicious buffet! Our members had a great time and made wonderful memories with our staff.

In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, CPC and partners, including Council Member Sandra Ung's office, KAFSC, Safe Horizon, and others, joined a Family Harmony and Community Safety Resource Fair hosted by the Garden of Hope at Flushing Library. The event featured presentations on various forms of domestic violence, empowering community members to recognize and address these critical issues.

Pershing, and Lafayette Educational Campus joined together to honor Global Diversity Awareness Month. They crafted a golden garland to inspire and empower others to vote and make their voices heard. This garland is one of ten being made around the city, and together they’ll form a city-block-long celebration of AAPI voting power on Golden Day (today)! 🗳️

Last night, CPC celebrated 45 years of service in Brooklyn at our Brooklyn Harvest Moon Benefit, bringing together over 500 allies, supporters, elected officials, and community leaders!

🎉 We honored five outstanding individuals for their contributions to the Brooklyn community: Cristina Gonzalez, Kin Ng, Dr. Qingliang Tony Wang, and Lawrence and Teresa Wu.

✨ We were honored to celebrate our benefit with New York State Attorney General, New York State Senators Jabari for State Senate and State Senator Iwen Chu, New York City Council Members Alexa Avilés and Susan Zhuang for City Council. We also welcomed representatives from the offices of U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Assembly Members Lester Chang and Assemblymember Marcela Mitaynes, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, and the New York City Public Schools.

🙌 Together, we are making a lasting impact on the lives of over 20,000 Brooklyn residents every day!

The CPC Policy team hosted a voter education and art project and discussed the history of Chinese Americans in the U.S. and the importance of voting. Community members joined in to create a beautiful golden fabric garland that symbolizes the powerful impact of their votes!

🎉 Tomorrow is CPC Brooklyn Harvest Moon Benefit! 🎉

We’re excited to announce our final three honorees for this special event!

🌟 Dr. Tony Wang: An accomplished neurologist and academic leader, currently serving as the Vice Chair and Associate Professor of Neurology at Maimonides Medical Center and SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn. Additionally, he also serves as the Medical Director of the Jaffe Comprehensive Stroke Program and NIR/NES Fellowship Director at Maimonides.

🌟 Lawrence and Teresa Wu: They are the owners of Peking Food LLC, which was first established in 1987 in Little Italy. Within just three years, the company expanded from its original location to Williamsburg-Brooklyn, ultimately moving to a larger facility in East Williamsburg Industrial Park. The company is the home of the Chef Hon brand, specializing in a range of steamed and baked products available at local Asian supermarkets.

🎉 Just 2 Days Until the CPC Brooklyn Harvest Moon Benefit on October 23rd! 🎉

We’re excited to announce our first two honorees for this special event!

🌟 Cristina Gonzalez: Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Cristina was recognized as one of the top 100 scholars in her country during high school. She began her education career as an Early Childhood Education teacher at PS 94 in 2007 and became principal in 2018. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Cristina and her team built key partnerships with CPC and established a food pantry, clothing boutique, and laundry facilities at PS 94 to address systemic inequities exacerbated by the crisis.

🌟 Kin Ng: With over 30 years of service as a prosecutor in the Brooklyn DA’s office, Kin has tackled a wide range of felonies, from burglaries to homicides. He has held leadership roles, including Chief of the Immigrant Fraud Unit, where he fought against those exploiting Brooklyn’s immigrant community. He was also the first APIA Bureau Chief of a major trial bureau and later became the Bureau Chief of Trial Bureau II – Blue Zone.

The Christian Science Monitor features CPC Open Door Senior Center and our programming that meets the diverse interests of our members aged 60 to 100!

From mah-jongg and pingpong to Chinese opera performances, dance classes, and cultural outings, there’s always something fun happening here! 🀄🏓💃

The center has over 8,000 active members and serves up to 600 seniors each day.
