for over two centuries, turkish carpets—especially kysari silk carpets—have earned worldwide acclaim for their vivid colors, intricate designs, and delicate weaving. unlike the chemical dyes often used in cities, turkish carpet makers use natural ingredients to dye the silk. ✨⁠

for example, brown is derived from walnuts, and yellow from saffron. in addition to wool, silk is a key material in carpet-making. by placing cocoons in boiling water, silk is gradually extracted and spun. the floral and curving designs result in these carpets having over 300 knots per square inch.⁠
