Last month, our team at Haven UWS was honored to meet with and serve dinner to an inspirational delegation of brave survivors of the attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz on Oct. 7.

Their visit to the U.S. was sponsored and arranged by the amazing congregation at Temple B’nai Jeshrun of Short Hills, NJ, in its compassionate effort to offer these families a brief respite from the violence and terror they have endured these past 9 months.

Many of us have felt somewhat helpless in the face of all through which these innocent people have suffered, and this poignant evening may have done as much for us as it did for our esteemed guests. Our house was packed that evening with neighbors and friends wanting to meet and show solidarity with these unimaginably resilient souls. We were humbled and grateful to play a small role in showing them how much Americans and American Jews care about them.
