Because asana is a highly physical practice, body politics often arise in yogic spaces, bringing uncomfortable feelings to the surface for many people. Our relationships with our bodies can be complicated, to say the least. As these sacred vessels change over time, so can all the ways we relate to them, both positively and negatively.
At Three Sisters, we strive to create the most body-inclusive, diverse, empowering training programs possible. We believe that yoga is for everybody and every body, and we want every student that walks through our doors to feel embraced and encouraged to make peace with the skin theyâre in.
Head to our blog to see what Anna Rose, one of our 500-hour alumni and current teachers, had to say about how her training at TSY helped change her relationship with her body for the better!
Letâs take a moment here to give gratitude for the brilliant, amazing, beautiful vessels we all live in. From our hardworking hearts down to our little fingernails, our bodies are all miracles that deserve to be studied, cared for, and loved.
For many students, learning about all the magic happening beneath their skin is one of the most exciting and memorable parts of YTT. So many marvelous muscles! Neural networks as complex and powerful as the universe itself! It feels like the more we learn about anatomy, the more amazing the art of asana becomes.
What was the most awe-inspiring thing you learned about your own body during training? Inquiring minds want to know!
Hi TSY family! I hope youâre all having a beautiful holiday weekend and enjoying some warm weather and relaxation! đđ

Oh and one more thing⌠donât ever forget how much we đ you!
Hey Buds đ here! Today I want to talk about finding stillness and quiet. Living in NYC often means that weâre used to a background of constant noise and movement. This city is alive, it has its own pulse. So where do we go, how do we seek refuge, when we need to-recenter?
This often seems to be the opening question in the stories of how we arrived at our yoga practices. In our collective search for quiet, for calm, we found sacred movement. We found our teachers and each other. Eventually, alone but together on our little mats, we found ourselves.
For me, this has meant connecting with Mother Earth in new ways, looking for silence, stillness, sacred movement, and inspiration in all her many splendors. When traveling to Arizona for the first time last November, I heard something Iâd never heard before when hiking through the desert alone: perfect, uninterrupted silence. There wasnât one little animal making a noise, no other human for miles, not a single gust of wind to rattle the trees. There was only me, the saguaros, and the sacred sound of my own breath. This has been a powerful scene for me to return to in meditations when I need to calm and center myself.
What are the special settings that help you find stillness, and why? Tell me about your grandmotherâs kitchen, your favorite beach, the forest you ran through as a child. Drop your story in the comments below, and hopefully you can inspire others to find a little more magic around them â¨
Hey Buds! đš Itâs Anna Rose again! Iâve been finding a lot of solace in wandering around lately and taking cute snapshots of all the flowers in full bloom đş
Having a âflower nameâ has always made me feel really connected to the plants and the trees, and provided interesting framework to look at the world around me. When I younger, my first love used to always ask me about the ârose and thornâ of my day, and that made me feel really warm and fuzzy inside.
I reflect often on when I feel like Iâm being planted, starting to sprout, growing, budding, and blossoming. This helps me categorize my emotional experiences and see the value in every stage of life. The philosophy of planting âthe three sistersâ together to help them grow always deeply resonated with me. I too, blossom most fully when Iâm immersed in a healthy community, like the one weâre blessed to have here â¤ď¸
We all need support, interdependence, teachers, students, family, friends, and our sacred networks to thrive. Iâll always be so grateful for my yoga practice and how itâs help connect me to so many people to love and be loved by as we climb the trellis of life together đ¸
Who in your life is helping you blossom this summer? Share your sweetest stories in the comments below! đ
Repost for the New Year! I get a lot of âwhy three sisters yoga?â So hereâs a repost from awhile back explaining:
While it is true that I am one of three sisters, the name Three Sisters Yoga actually comes from the practice of planting the âthree sistersâ crops: corn, beans, and squash together.
When planted together they grow and support each other.
Each plant is different which contributes to the whole in unique and meaningful ways.
Like the planting, Three Sisters Yoga is thrives because it is comprised of three things; the practice, the teachers and YOU, the diverse, unique, and wonderful students who make this practice so special. Thank you.
Love you!
