Acclaimed Brazilian percussionist Valtinho Anastácio brings the sounds of Brasil to the Zinc every Sunday evening
Born in Sao Paulo, Brasil, Valtinho’s journey as a musician started as a child, inspired by the very streets he grew up on. This young musician soon realized that his love was with the many percussion instruments that pervaded the music of one of the richest musical cultures on the planet, and slowly, he learned to master the congas, the pandeiro, the berimbau, the agogos, the abes, the caixas and more. His voice then became the bridge upon which his craft took form. He went on to play and learn from some of Brasil’s top musicians, including Elis Regina, Wilson Simonal, Djavan, Milton Nascimento, Egberto Gismonti. Valtinho’s time in Tokyo led him to work with Japanese legends such as Terumasa Hino, Kazumi Watanabe.

3x Grammy-nominated Axel Tosca is a highly talented Cuban jazz pianist and composer who has gained recognition for his virtuosic performances and innovative compositions that blend elements of jazz, classical music, Hip-Hop and Afro-Cuban rhythms.
Xiomara Laugart has lived and worked in New York City for two decades. As a vocalist, she has performed Cuban nueva trova, jazz standards, and Broadway numbers on local and international stages. Xiomara has recorded over 17 albums and has collaborated with Kip Hanrahan, Roy Hargrove, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, and others.

Acclaimed jazz guitarist Andy Bianco brings his formidable quartet to Zinc on Monday, August 26. He’s supported by saxophonist Wayne Escoffery, organist Brad Whiteley, and drummer Allan Mednard.
New York City-based guitarist/composer Andy Bianco has performed/recorded with Angie Stone, Ray Chew, Onree Gill, Kandace Springs, Elle Varner, Bob Moses & many others at such renowned venues as Smoke Jazz Club, Cafe Wha, The Bitter End, The Blue Note, SOB’s, and Joe’s Pub. He’s also the guitarist for the Grammy-nominated RnB artist Elle Varner, with whom he has completed a tour of Japan for Billboard Live. He was a finalist in the 2012 & 2015 USA Songwriting Competition, & his 2 official album releases as a leader have received domestic & international critical acclaim. Andy completed a 6-month tour of New Zealand & Japan as the guitarist with the critically acclaimed stage production entitled, “Empire.” He is a member of the jazz hip-hop supergroup, the Nickel & Dime OPS.

NYC early 1990’s the greatest jazz guitarist of our time descended into the Zinc late nights. Among them all Russell Malone stood out for his soulful and pure sound and his sincerity of character. We will miss him badly.

Arizona. She is the leader of the Sonic Asylum trio and quintet, Co Director of the environmentally motivated orchestra The D.O.M.E. Experience along with bassist Mimi Jones and is the Musical Director for vocalist Allan Harris.

Introduced to guitar at age four, Tosca was also playing piano by age seven and soon joined his parents on stage playing his first show at Casa de las Americas.
