Douglas Amport and John La Polla, motivated by their knowledge and passion for brewing, founded Bitter & Esters in July of 2011. Fueled by their desire to inspire, educate and nurture the growing homebrew community in a friendly space, they conceived of Bitter & Esters as a brew on premises location and classroom space. With access to resources, supplies and expertise, it is a creative hub for sharing brew tips and techniques. Bitter & Esters fosters a deep commitment to the craft of brewing.

Yes, Bitter & Esters is closed but we are still working! Thank you everyone for buying up our inventory and assets, it’s been a great help. We still have 2-5 # co2 tanks to sell or exchange. Some sodastream, lots of bottles, a sink a table and a fridge. Someone will be here every day from 12-5 until the 31st. Call first, we will pick up. Thank you all again for an amazing 13 years!
Our 2nd one star review in 13 years! I believe the customer wanted people to know we were closed and if they made it a 5 star review it would look like they were happy.
More stuff has got to go! 2- 10 gallon mash tuns with Ss false bottom and ball valve- $50 ea. Cool brew insulated bag, holds up to a half barrel-$20. New single tap tower-$50. Sankey hand pump-$30. So yes, we are closed but we’re still liquidating. As we were going through what’s left of our inventory, we found that we still had a brand new Komos dual co2 regulator. Normally $140 but you can have it for $84! You’ve got to call or drop by to get it. Thanks.

Last night was Bitter & Esters final event! This time it was the pros of the guild at their monthly meeting, a who’s who of NYC breweries! It was great seeing our old friends who have been with us this entire ride. We are honored to have been part of this vibrant craft beer community here in NYC. We love you all and will miss you. !
