Last week, the Bloomingdale School of Music team came together for our annual staff retreat in Brewster, NY, as we kick off our 60th year of music education! 🎉 We reflected on the past year, brainstormed new ways to bring music to more students across New York City and beyond, and set the stage for an even brighter future. The discussions were inspiring, and we’re excited to make this milestone year truly unforgettable!

Bravo! 👏 Tuesday night marked a milestone for the Bloomingdale School of Music as they held their first concert in collaboration with The New Jewish Home. The event, “An Evening of Songs,” saw Bloomingdale faculty members Alicia Waller and WeiWei Zhai perform to an enthusiastic audience. The crowd sang along, nodded to the music, and their joy was palpable throughout the room. We extend our gratitude to Yoko and Stephanie at TNJH for initiating this partnership and give a big shout-out to Grace Azcona for coordinating this event and the upcoming concert next week.

Congratulations to our Summer Troubadours on a great final showcase! All week long, our students experimented with real instruments from the strings, woodwinds, and percussion families. Not to mention, they learned their own musical pieces and performed them for an audience! The showcase ended with a beautiful Orff Ensemble featuring our summer troubadours and faculty.

Our Summer Troubadours are having a BLAST! So far this week they have played several instruments including piano, violin, cello, and percussion! They are on their way to starting their own Troubadour band! 🥰🎶

Bloomingdale school of music is seeking candidates for the position of Jazz Voice Teacher. The ideal candidate has a solid jazz background, experience leading ensembles, and the capability to teach different genres at a basic level. The successful candidate should also have a strong teaching background with experience, instructing students of various ages and skill levels, as well as basic piano accompaniment skills.

Thank you to Alexander Technique specialist, Lori Schiff, from Juilliard! Our Summer Piano and Strings Intensive students spent two days learning about body mapping and body awareness through the Alexander Technique! Students played in class and discovered new ways to sit, balance, and move for better ease of playing. 🎶

Our Summer Strings and Piano Intensives are kicking the summer off strong! 🥰 It’s so great to see students learn new skills and make new friends along the way!
