โChrist shed his blood for his bride, the Church. We, as imitators of Christ, are called to love the Church and work for her good in thought, word and deed.โ
-Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly

Saint Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us! ๐
Born on August 26, 1910, in Skopje, which at that time was part of Albania and is now North Macedonia. She passed away at the age of 87 on September 5, 1997, in Calcutta, India.
Called by the Lord, in 1950 she founded the Missionaries of Charity congregation in India, dedicated to serving โthe poorest of the poor.โ Additionally, she founded the male branch of the congregation in 1963, and years later established the Contemplative Sisters, Contemplative Brothers, Missionary Fathers of Charity, and the Corpus Christi movement for priests.
Received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for uniting people to defend the dignity of the poor and marginalized. She made the destitute, defenseless, forgotten, or rejected visible, while also creating global chains of solidarity.
In her Nobel Prize acceptance speech, the saint courageously rejected abortion and called for its abolition. โThe greatest destroyer of peace today is the cry of an innocent unborn child. If a mother can kill her own child in her womb, what worse crime can there be than killing one another?โ she said. โFor me, those nations that have legalized abortion are the poorest of all nations [...] I implore you in the name of the little ones: save those who are to be born, recognize the presence of Jesus in them!โ she added.
Her great friend, Saint John Paul II, beatified her on October 19, 2003, and thirteen years later, Pope Francis canonized her on the occasion of the โJubilee of Volunteers and Workers of Mercy.โ
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
