For two decades, we've helped novice and seasoned actors land work in major motion pictures, prime-time television, indie film, national commercials, Broadway musicals, and Off-Broadway theater. Our approach cuts through the hocus-pocus other "schools" have stuffed into our heads about acting over the last fifty years, and yields results in the form of lucrative careers.

AC is honored to be voted the #1 Acting Studio in NYC, by the Distinguished Teaching Awards, 2023!! 🎬🎭🙏🏽

“The annual Distinguished Teaching awards recognizes the top educators in each U.S. city. We employ machine learning and a business analytical program to sift through hundreds of thousands of verified sources. Criteria includes trust, reputation, the steady flow of reviews, credibility, licenses, accreditations, rewards and the lack of complaints in public registers.

We track over 500,000+ blogs, consumer review portals, and social media accounts, and monitor over 140 thousand educators nationwide to help readers narrow the search. Out of that number, only a fraction of highly qualified professionals meet the strict eligibility requirements to make our featured list of 1000 across all categories. Even smaller numbers are featured as the best teachers across the country, an astonishing feat considering the unsolicited nature of the recognition.”

An actor is a literary creature. They are the lover and conveyor of words. No technique, approach, or theory to acting, no matter their good intentions, can help you fall in love with the words. Nothing beyond your own desire can help you understand how to properly break down a script or to discern whether or not a script is even good. An actor must be on the hunt for beautiful, compelling and well-written words. - DLE

Nearly two decades working together and in the last few months this cat has been landing acting jobs like crazy: he became the Yale New Haven Health Spokesman (huge gig), then landed Gossip Girl on HBO, and this week, we worked Law & Order at the studio and 💥 — he booked it. It takes more than a few classes and self tapes to build a career. It takes patience through all the rejection, wisdom to be LOYAL to a team that works, and daily discipline to keep the creative edge sharp. Bravo Donovan ❤️— and thank you for trusting me all these years! Onto the next!!

Another coaching session with for his upcoming TV appearance on 🤫. I’ve coached this multi-faceted megastar for almost 20 years and am so lucky to have earned his TRUST and LOYALTY. I can’t say that about every actor who has come through the door — after all — you can’t please everyone. But if I’m good enough for a force of nature like Ryan, I feel like we’re doing something right!! Thanks for everything Ryan! (Check out the playbill on his collage wall from the show I directed him in—➡️➡️➡️) -coach

It has been one helluva year at our studio! If you look closely into the vortex of any good thing, there is always a family — a nucleus containing powerful atoms and protons that exist, work, live, learn and grow together. The strongest bonds are immeasurable — incalculable— and if you don’t hold onto to those circles you were a part of along the way, you’ll never know the value of what you gave up on. Bravo to this family that has stuck and grown together for the last few years — and in many cases - decades. Bravo to you all who have employed the studio to expand your careers and creative horizons! In 2023 the evolution and revolution continues and we hope you join our ranks!!

Shakespeare told us the SECRETS to acting 400 years ago and yet — acting programs don’t want you to know it — or why didn’t they teach it to you?? Open up Hamlet, Act III scene 2: “Speak the speech……….” And behold the truth of all truths.

Photos from ACTORCLASS.com's post 10/27/2022

Participating in an acting class is not about striving for perfection. It’s about the pursuit of truth. And although we don’t always arrive upon it, it’s the pursuit that matters. However, that pursuit cannot even take place unless you’ve put in the hours ahead familiarizing yourself with every detail and word the writer has gifted you. Only when you have put in the raw hours and done the fundamentals of the craft, can you attempt, or even understand, how to create the art 🖼

Something wonderful has brought real change this year: The mix of professionals, novices, and the growing gang of NYU Tisch students that arrive more and more each week, has brought a level of intelligence, talent, respect and seriousness that is unmatched in the 20 years I’ve been teaching. There was a time (when I was a bit younger and had less gray hair on my face), when I would be forced into endless intellectual ego battles with actors who loved the sound of their own voice more than they were able to just sit back and listen. That time is thankfully over. Thank you to this incredible room full of talent for allowing me to teach you my way and for recognizing the value in the work we are doing. The results have been off the charts. Thanks to the support of the dynamic duo and — my NYU brethren - who have so graciously spread the word about class, and brought in an unbelievable new level of compassionate artists every week who study with me for one reason: to learn.

To earn the trust of so many kind, vibrant and caring people, is not something I take lightly or for granted. The greatest reward is when successful students return to class to share stories and explain how studying at our studio played a major role in their careers. Thanks to .cordeiro for taking time from his busy rehearsal schedule to talk with the next generation of AC students. It was wonderful to hear you rattle off all the projects we worked together over the years and how AC was your creative home for a decade! Break a leg on your production 🎭 🎞

The writing is the road map. Just this week in class we were talking about Chekhov’s principles of writing: If a stage production has a gun prop on mounted on the wall, it better be used before the play is done or why bother having the gun at all?

“every element in a story must be necessary, and irrelevant elements should be removed. Elements should not appear to make "false promises" by never coming into play.” — Chekhov

This same rule holds true for an actor: If you wear a hat onstage you better use it for more than just wearing. If you have glasses onstage you better do more than just look through them, or what is the point of wearing them at all?

All great actors know that the rules of WRITING are the real rules of the acting.

.segovia is a phenomenal actress who started at our studio in 2014. She’s one of those RARE actors who always puts in the work and elevates the artistry of anyone working opposite her. Nominated by Broadwayworld for Best Actress in 2020 for her work as Shakespeare’s Queen Katherine, she’s back on the same stage this summer playing multiple roles in The Winter’s Tale. BRAVO Kendall! We love You so much and are so proud to be part of your ongoing journey! Break legs 🎭 💕

Sam says he found a home with us…. and we are overjoyed to say that we found another member of the family in Sam.

Very proud of Sam's work in 2021's Bridge & Tunnel on Epix. Check it out on Roku if you haven't already.

I met this handsome devil in 2006 and worked just about every audition he had including his film debut opposite Ben Stiller. Sixteen years later, he has multiple TV shows under his belt with two Emmy noms, one of the most successful real estate firms in the world, and still he finds reasons to collaborate with our studio. Last night was like old times — honored my friend!

Our space is safe, honest and vulnerable. We hold each other to the highest standard of excellence and push each other without insulting, mocking or offending. We foster the confidence of one another by making sure the audience critiquing off-stage is as honest as the actors who are on it. AC is a family of actors from all levels who trust this studio as their creative home. 🎞 🎭 📚

Tom studied with us for 10 years before booking Olivier Award nominee, The Shark is Broken. Throughout that time, his work ethic was on point. Tom continues to show up and commit to roles that exceed many others around him. He gets it. This could be you too if you're willing to stay longer and go deeper.

Can I share something I never have before? I mean, I must have said a million times that I love what I do have have the real industry experience that helps actors cut through the jargon because that’s what we do at ActorClass.

But something I don’t share often are some of my accolades and how I got into coaching & teaching.

Congratulations to who made his West End debut in the hit 2022 Olivier Award Nominee, The Shark is Broken, at London’s Ambassadors Theatre!

Shakespeare’s words are essential to your understanding of acting, the world itself, the wide breadth of experience that makes up humanity, and your place in it. There is a reason Shakespeare has survived: his words are the secret weapon in your arsenal.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Every love story you’ve ever seen is based on Romeo and Juliet. Every “evil” character is a variation of Richard III. Every space epic from Star Wars to Dune is gleaned from Hamlet. This is textbook stuff, but most actors fear Shakespeare because when it was taught to them back in high school, even the teachers didn't get it. Crack open those books and don't be afraid! If you don't know the monologue "to be or not to be" -- can you even call yourself an actor?

Taking a plethora of acting classes and studying at famous studios won’t make the difference in your career. No teacher can magically anoint you with the ingredient that matters most: discipline. The successful actor knows that self-discipline makes all the difference in the world. If you aren’t extremely and religiously motivated on your own time, then it doesn’t matter how many classes you take.

Consistency is king. has been in AC classes for years — landing huge gigs including Shakespeare in the Park with The Public Theater. Without fail, he never misses the chance to consult with us on all of his major self-tapes. Great work this week Donovan — you are a consummate actor! 🎭 🎞

I work for those authentic moments where someone has stopped acting and is simply "being". I find it deeply satisfying and inspiring to know that our studio pushes talented actors like Nancy closer to her creative and emotional core.
After only a few months at the studio, Nancy landed the lead role in the feature film RAMONA.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Soon, you'll be able to catch her in the upcoming tv mini-series CRASH THE SYSTEM. I am privileged to have witnessed her growth in classes and private sessions and love that the industry now sees it too.

Want to hear a secret? Everything evolves. If it weren’t so, we’d still be making silent film & computers would have floppy discs. Art is about breaking the rules in order to reach a new line in the sand. We respect what came before AND we build upon the past. We can’t remain there.

Want to see what a progressive training ground looks like? Next session starts on April 12th.
