We help students joyfully connect with live theater, and expose them to opportunities to make theater themselves. Our award-winning Learning Through Theater curriculum integrates the experience of being an enthusiastic audience member with being a skilled synthesizer of one’s own plays. These activities foster their individual engagement with: literacy, critical thinking, and self-expressive writing... in uniquely theatrical ways.
This program is part of Shakespeare in American Communities, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the following note from Margot Harley and Ian Belknap:
The Acting Company mourns the passing of its founding board member Edgar Lansbury (1930-2024). Edgar’s indelible contributions at the Company began in 1972 and continued for the next five decades. For many years, he was the President of the Board of Directors, where his generosity and passion inspired other board members, donors, and staff to keep the Company on the road with the best emerging actors.
Edgar Lansbury, Tony-Winning Producer and Brother of Angela Lansbury, Dies at 94 He worked on Broadway and movie versions of 'The Subject Was Roses' and 'Godspell' and on a revival of 'Gypsy' that starred his sister.
The Acting Company today is made up of a global and diverse community of our very best actors coming from training programs all over the country. We give them a terrific opportunity to practice that craft on established classics and on new plays that we're developing that have classic bone structure.
