Safe Passage Project provides free lawyers to immigrant and refugee children who are being deported. immigration officials while entering the U.S. illegally.
Each year since 2001, approximately 86,000 juveniles have been apprehended by U.S. Many of these children are unaccompanied and are seeking refuge from abuse and maltreatment. "The Access to Representation Act offers the chance for New York legal service providers to help more children and families by guaranteeing access to legal counsel in deportation proceedings. It’s a matter of due process. While the historic levels of legal and social services funding in the one-house budgets is remarkable, we need permanent solutions to ensure that these issues do not continue to impact the ability of children and families to build their lives here in New York."

Safe Passage project has joined including 172 organizations as signatories to urge the Biden Administration to extend the public comment period for their proposed Asylum Ban.
Las Patronas is a group of women in Mexico who, for 28 years, have provided food, water, and other assistance to Central American migrants traveling on the freight train known as “La Bestia.” Their name comes from their town, but for the migrants, who grab potentially life-saving food and water from women they will in all likelihood never see again, “patron saint”.

We are excited to announce the 8th Annual New York Asylum & Immigration Conference is convening on Friday, February 10 and Saturday, February 11, 2023 in-person and via Zoom. There are scholarships available and law students may attend without charge. Registration is required.
On Friday, February 10th, there are two tracks: beginner and advanced, and attendees may receive up to 8 hours of CLE Credit. On Saturday, February 11th, there is one track and up to 5.5 hours of CLE Credit are possible. All CLE is NY State. Attendance in person is limited due to COVID restrictions. Zoom tickets are unlimited.
