🔬🥼EPA invited high school and college students to the EPA Edison, NJ campus to learn about emergency response, microbiology and careers in science!
In partnership with New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, the Youth Inclusion Initiative Event introduced nearly 80 students to a range of equipment including thermal cameras and air monitors, while also learning how the agency is tackling the climate crisis.

📢 Exciting news in Camden!
The EPA has selected CLHI North Camden to receive a $1 million Brownfields Cleanup Grant to revitalize the Former West Jersey Paper Manufacturing Site. This grant will help fund the cleanup of the site, making way for 15 affordable single-family homes and marking a significant step in Camden’s revitalization efforts.
EPA Regional Chief of Staff Olivia Glenn, Donald Norcross, City of Camden Government Mayor Victor Carstarphen, and CLHI North Camden Executive Director Brandi Johnson emphasized the transformative impact of this funding, made possible by the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

🚧 Construction news!
We’re in the construction phase of a wastewater treatment plant at the Welsbach & General Gas Mantle Superfund Site in Camden and Gloucester City, NJ. This plant will treat water contaminated with thorium, a radioactive material used in gas mantles from the 1890s to the 1940s. The treated water will be safely discharged into the Delaware River.
