I'm not built for social media.

I find it mostly silly... yet sometimes invest too much time in it.

We were just visited by this young fella.

(I think he looks at all those pigeons across the avenue like an all-you-can-eat buffet.)

I'm just feeling a little ornery today.

(Feelings are funny... and fluid.)

Stop it. Just stop it.

This is a tiny section of our observable Universe. The brighter objects are a few stars in our own galaxy. Every other point of light you see here... is another galaxy. Each of these galaxies, each of these tiny specs are made up of hundreds of billions of stars.

Not a billion. Not 2 billion. HUNDREDS of... BILLIONS of stars.

Each speck of light.

If each star had only one planet orbiting it, that means you are looking at trillions of planets... just in this image.

To think that an invisible god has commanded some of us to murder and eradicate our closest neighbors, to think that an all knowing being gave some particular people a particular plot of sandy acreage to call their own on our puny planet because they are "chosen", to think that some supernatural entity impregnated a 16 year old Hebrew girl and then sent his son to our planet to be brutally tortured and killed... IS INSANE.

It's all insane.

Stop it. Just stop it.

Please.

This is the 21st century.

Whew... had to get that out.

The rest of us have work to do.

Hey kids... I decided to bail on the concert in Bayshore Long Island, scheduled for March. (Lots of reasons... but I'll explain when we get together this weekend LIVE online for "It's Just Us".)

In the meantime, I'm still feeling the warmth of the night we all spent together at Merkin Concert Hall in The Kaufman Center here in Manhattan. We'll get together somewhere this spring. I promise. (For now, it's still what I do!)

Life is an adventure. When things don't seem to work out as planned, it's just up to me to make it all part of a better plan.

I've written two songs — one that is an "imagined" dialogue with a Trump follower, and one is a direct indictment of Donald Trump and his followers.

If you are a person who plans on casting a vote for Trump in November I would like to invite you to listen to both of them, and then tell me how and why these songs are wrong. Perhaps we'll dedicate a special 90-minute LIVE edition of "It's Just Us" to your response.

Well... another year in the history books.

But we do it. (Maybe so that we all don't show up at the dentist's office at once.) I mean, at the bottom of the ocean it's business as usual.

But date and time are two of the very few things upon which human beings all around the planet actually agree. (Except, of course, like in most instances where religion or nationalism is a divisive factor. Right? I mean, there's a different "Jewish new year" and a different "Chinese new year". Silly stuff.)

It's all arbitrary.

Still, we're beginning another lap around that star we call the Sun. We're flying silently through space on this tiny blue jewel... together. So I hope you make this next lap around the Sun the most amazing one so far. I hope we all move confidently in the direction of our dreams.

Been doing this for years. It's another one of my own, little, personal traditions. It's just a way of allowing myself to take a breath. And every year... it just feels so good.

And yes... I get to share the stage and sing with two incredibly beautiful and talented women. The guys in the band are simply among the finest artists in this town or anywhere. And my pal, Emmy Award-winning film maker Dean Love and his crew, did an amazing job getting the gig out to the world.

THAT was another really fun hang!

We'll get together on Saturday for the last "It's Just Us" of 2023.

"The Something'th Annual Year End Concert" was on December 16.

Christmas was December 25.

Both are now history. Recent history.... but history. They are both memories. Fresh memories... but memories just the same.
That's Life. We make it up as we go along. We live in each "moment"... and then that moment becomes the past.

For me, embracing each moment as it comes is the secret to a magnificently wonderful, challenging, fun, difficult, rewarding, painful and beautiful Life.
