Some photos from Women's Labor Rheostat Rotary Club on Governor's Island this past weekend. What a unique experience creating art from typical household and domestic items.
If you weren't able to attend check out our socials for more on previous and upcoming events.
Don't forget that "What is the Shape of Water?" is coming up at lightning speed this Aug 19th.
Come experience this unique audiovisual and interactive experience. The audience enters a pitch-black room with tens of thousands of invisible organisms in a bulb-like aquarium. They’re invited to speak, and if they do their voice excites the bioluminescent dinoflagellates into illuminating. The microbes create a blue glow of bubbles shaped from the pitch and volume of the voice emanating within the water. Therefore, if you ask “what’s the shape of water?”, the dinoflagellates will tell you.
Open 1-4pm at Governor's Island, Nolan Park Building 10a. Bring your friends, and your friends' friends.
Some views from the ferries in NYC.

Another reminder that the Music Hackathon is fast approaching this AUGUST 5th!!
Make music outdoors, without electrical outlets and internet access. Consider, how will working in a park on an island, removed from the streets and offices of the city, change your musical or sonic explorations? How will working without a table and chairs change your process? Will you create a battery powered experience? A physical hardware based musical or sound experience? Will you construct an instrument that does not rely on institutionally provided power or internet access? This hackathon encourages any medium, techniques, technologies, and procedures you can use to create music and sound experiences under these constraints.
Bring your friends and your friends' friends and come enjoy a day filled with fun and connection. RSVP here:
