Coming July 2024! After gathering input from Richmond Hill residents and community members, our talented partners at and got to work and cooked up the design for what we are calling the Richmond Hill Community Art Hub. You may have seen us in Lt. Frank McConnell park painting the letters and waves that make up the structure. Throughout July, we will be installing the structure in the park, and we’ll be hosting some more paint parties so community members can help bring life to these designs! The structure will live in the park for a year. Many many thanks to and for supporting us in making this happen. If you’re interested in hosting an event in the park, reach out and chat with us! Whether you’re attending an event or a performance in the park, or you’re lounging with a book and a cup of chai, we hope to see you there!
We had an amazing time at Lt. Frank McConnell Park for our second paint party! Thanks to everyone who joined us in prepping for our new community art structure. Stay tuned for all our cool programming starting in July! Big shoutout to all our partners including Studio Fōr, Hive Public Space, Urban Design Forum and ANHD for their support and of course the New York City Parks Department for making this possible. Let’s make this space thrive!

📢 “We, the rent-stabilized tenants of Queens, declare the Rent Guidelines Board a sham.”
Yesterday, Queens tenants, supported by Chhaya CDC and our partner organizations, stood united at the Rent Guidelines Board hearing in Jamaica. Despite sharing our struggles year after year, we continue to be ignored as rents skyrocket and evictions soar.
From powerful testimonies in multiple languages to symbolic red tape over our mouths, we made it clear: the RGB process is flawed and unjust. We’re done playing by their rules. It’s time for fair, unbiased rent guidelines that prioritize tenant needs over landlord profits.
We won’t stop until we see REAL change.
NYCHA’s Section 8 waitlist reopens on June 3rd! 🗓️ Need help applying? Schedule an appointment with one of our counselors today. Language support in Bangla and Hindi available.
Queens tenants, it’s time to unite! Join us to oppose the Rent Guidelines Board’s proposed 6% increase. Let’s stand together for fair rents and tenant rights in our community. Your presence matters in this fight for justice.
