Over the past decade, assistant professor Suresh Sundaram has crafted 23 different study abroad programs in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Barcelona. An “innovator” for study abroad, the Lerner College faculty member adapts his programs year after year to support his students’ career goals and personal needs.
From international work experiences to micro-internship opportunities to hybrid learning models, Sundaram has supported over 300 students' study abroad dreams. To show their appreciation, his students submitted an overwhelming number of nominations on his behalf for the 2024 Faculty Director of the Year Award.

Excellence in Early Care and Education - College of Education & Human Development It is one of the largest and most robust early childhood education centers in the state. It is also a “living-learning laboratory” for hundreds of UD students interested in strengthening knowledge, health and wellness for Delaware’s youngest citizens. High school students at UD’s Upward Bound program spent the summer gaining life skills and preparing for college. Over five weeks, they took classes in math, science, and more, stayed in dorms, explored career paths, and experienced college life firsthand.

Susan Truehart Garey, a dedicated leader in agriculture, was honored with the 2024 George M. Worrilow Award from UD's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
As Kent County director for UD Cooperative Extension, Garey has spent her career promoting agriculture and supporting youth through 4-H programs. Her passion for animal science and her commitment to Delaware's agricultural community have earned her this prestigious recognition.

UD fashion design and product innovation major Orlagh Cahill learned new techniques for preserving fragile fashion garments from the 1920s this summer. The work included digitally recreating delicate historical fashions as one means of preserving them.
