Dr. Surya Vaadyala D.O., FAAP, is a board certified pediatrician and fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He received his undergraduate degree from Saint Louis University and his medical degree from Western University of the Health Sciences in Pomona, CA. He then proceeded to complete his pediatric residency at UCSF-Fresno.

He enjoys getting to know his patients as well as their families and appreciates the continuity of care that pediatrics provides. He is dedicated to caring for children and believes in shared decision making with parents to keep every child healthy. His special interests include newborn and infant care. In his free time, he likes to spend time with his wife as they explore Orange County after recently moving here to be closer to family.

Janice Dada MPH, RDN, CDCES, CEDS is a registered dietitian nutritionist with a private practice in Newport Beach. In her pediatric work, she helps parents implement best practices for infant and child feeding, whether it’s introducing solids, combating “picky” eating, or working through a health challenge.

Leila Yasrebi, M.D., FAAP, is board certified in pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has been practicing in California as a pediatrician since 2003. Dr. Yasrebi graduated magna cm laude from Jacksonville University with a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Psychology with Departmental Honors in Biology, Graduation with University Honors, and is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. She received her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and completed her internship and residency training at The Brooklyn Hospital Center – an affiliate of Weill Cornell Medical College.

Dr. Yasrebi has always enjoyed being around and helping kids, and she knew from an early age that she wanted to be a pediatrician. She focuses on delivering quality, compassionate care and providing the education, resources and information required for her patients to live healthy and happy lives. She understands the impact she has on kids and does not take this responsibility lightly.

During her free time, Dr. Yasrebi enjoys playing tennis, shopping and doing outdoor activities with her husband, who is also a pediatrician, and her two teen daughters. She enjoys volunteering her time with many charities including Miracle for Kids and the Make a Wish Foundation. Dr. Yasrebi’s special interests include early child development, adolescent care, and pediatric preventative care.

A day at the beach can be fun. 🏖️🌊 However, swimming in the water can be dangerous if you don't know how to keep yourself from drowning. Approximately 50-70% of drownings happen in open waters such as the ocean, lakes, rivers, and ponds. Learn how to reduce the risks of drowning by following these beach safety tips!

This week we are putting the spotlight on Dr. Gillis at our Laguna Niguel office.✨

Dr. Susan Gillis, M.D. FAAP, is board certified in pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She grew up in Indiana where she attended Indiana University where she received degrees in Biology and India Studies. She then went on to attend medical school there as well.

She completed her residency at Eastern Virginia School of Medicine in Virginia. After completing her residency she did additional training in pediatric infectious diseases at Seattle Children’s Hospital in Washington. After her training in Seattle, she worked in San Diego for 2 years as a pediatrician before coming to Coastal Kids.

Dr. Gillis has a particular interest in infections but is experienced in treating many pediatric conditions. She lives with her husband and her young son and loves to go on walks on the beach with her family.

Our spotlight is shining on Annie Shugarman this week!✨

Annie Shugarman has been a nationally certified physician assistant since 1994. Annie attended Cal State Long Beach for undergraduate studies and Western University of Health Sciences for P.A. school. She also holds a master’s in physician assistant studies.

Annie has over 18 years of experience working for a large medical group in Long Beach, predominately in an urgent care environment. She joined Coastal Kids in 2010.

Annie and her husband have three kids. In her spare time, she enjoys running, hiking and cooking. Her passion is teaching families how to eat healthily and be active together.

We are shining the spotlight on Lesli Juncaj this week!⭐️

Lesli is a national board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner (CPNP). She has over a decade of experience as a CPNP, graduating summa cm laude from UCLA in 2002. She has been practicing as a CPNP with Coastal Kids since 2008.

She has gained years of invaluable experience working as a CPNP in the Children’s Hospital of Orange County’s primary care clinics in Santa Ana, prior to joining Coastal Kids. There, she managed the healthcare needs of children of all ages, worked closely with adolescents in the teen clinic, and often went out into the community in CHOC’s mobile healthcare clinic. She has also spent time working with the Orange County Rescue Mission to provide healthcare to children and their families in need.

Her abilities include providing comprehensive healthcare services to children and their families by managing chronic and acute illnesses, as well as performing physical exams from the newborn period through adolescence. Lesli is a southern California native and currently resides in South Orange County with her husband and four young daughters. Lesli is fluent in Spanish.

✨This week, the spotlight is on Dr. Leann Olson.✨

Dr. Leann Olson, MD, FAAP is board certified in pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She grew up in Southern California and attended Arizona State University and graduated magna cm laude from the Barrett’s Honors College with Bachelor’s Degrees in Biochemistry and Psychology. She received her medical degree from Creighton University before returning to Orange County for her residency at CHOC Children’s. She practiced both inpatient and outpatient pediatrics in Arizona for 10 years where she served as her hospital’s pediatric medical director and vice chair of medicine before returning to California to be closer to her family.

She enjoys spending time with her two children, going to Disneyland, gardening and hiking. She has interests in newborn and infant care, immunizations, and early childhood development.
