Celebrating Father's Day with a special story of love and support! Meet Otis Healy, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who holds a special place in his heart for Hoag. Otis's commitment to his family and his passion for healthcare have made a lasting impact.

As the benefactor of the Otis Healy Family Endowed Chair in Applied Genomics, he continues to support groundbreaking research led by Dr. Michael Demeure. Otis is also a valued member of Hoag Innovators, a group of donors dedicated to spearheading innovation at Hoag through transformative advancements, solutions, and cures.

With four children, 10 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren, his family has grown over the years. In fact, five of his great grandchildren were born at Hoag Hospital, including twin boys who spent time in the NICU. Otis expresses his heartfelt appreciation to the Hoag nurses for their support during their crucial early days.

With an annual family reunion spanning over 50 years, Otis treasures the growth of his family. From a picture of him with his first wife and four children to the present, including grandchildren, great grandchildren, and more, each reunion captures the love and joy shared among generations. Our perfect, sweet little baby boy is here! Cannon spent the first 30 hours in the Nicu dealing with some fluid build up but is now with us and we are so in love! He is one happy, healthy and adorable baby boy.

is a rockstar in everything from pregnancy, delivery, and now recovery plus caring for two more little ones. We were so blessed that the babies came with no complications, despite one of them being breeched and then flipping last minute to make things much better. This would not have been possible without the countless prayers from many supportive people (thank you!).

We can’t wait to experience life as a family of 4! This world may seem big and scary but Mom, Dad, and big sister Madison will always be by your side. We love you so much already baby girl.

In December 2022, amidst their breast cancer treatments at Hoag, Emily and Jessica forged an incredible friendship. Both single moms, they found solace in sharing their fears, hopes, and the rollercoaster of emotions that come with their breast cancer journey.

Their connection went beyond treatments - they talked about family, exercise, and the little things that only fellow warriors could truly understand. Emily and Jessica cherished the compassionate care they received at Hoag and the support of Dr. Chaitali Nangia, medical director of breast cancer clinical research and co-director of cellular therapy at the Hoag Family Cancer Institute.

Their friendship flourished in the newly renovated Patty & George Hoag Cancer Center, where they often had treatment sessions together. Privacy was a thing of the past, and their infusion room became a place of laughter and support.

Today, Hoag physicians, employees, donors and leadership celebrated a significant construction milestone for Hoag’s Irvine expansion by signing the final beam for the Surgical Pavilion at Hoag’s Sun Family Campus.

The Surgical Pavilion will contain 24 Acuity-Adaptable ICU patient rooms, 12 private pre/post-operative rooms, 12 post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) bays, 8 operating rooms, 2 procedure rooms, and a seamless underground connection to the new specialty care pavilions for women’s health and cancer and digestive health that are also under construction.
