Our Story
In 1973, Hyde Park’s CEO & founder Michael Pollak began his venture into the jewelry business by selling turquoise and American Indian pieces. His first “store” was the lawn of the University of Denver, where he attended school and completed his degree in retail merchandising. While in school, Michael had met Steve Rosdal who had recently moved to Colorado, and soon became Michael’s sole supplier.
In 1975, the two joined forces as Native American jewelry traders and set out to expand upon their business. In 1976, recognizing the fading popularity of the already saturated silver and turquoise market, Michael recommended approaching the market differently and developed a more contemporary concept to business. The retail concept he envisioned would be far different from any jewelry store in Denver at the time. The store was named "Hyde Park", tying back to Michael’s connection to the historic Hyde Park district in Chicago. Resonating with international flavor, the name spoke of quality which became an integral part of the Hyde Park vision. The first Hyde Park store opened in Denver's Tamarac Square Shopping Center, with just 2 employees. The logo was specifically created to represent “the corner of luxury”.
Inspired by a passion for jewelry, Hyde Park set out to acquire rare and precious jewels while developing relationships with the most admired designers from around the world. On a mission to bring these new offerings to fruition in the Colorado market, Michael and his team traveled throughout parts of Europe, Asia and the Middle East, to meet with designers, artisans and esteemed manufacturing houses to develop lasting relationships. Over the decades, Hyde Park has maintained a lasting reputation of trust, fairness, quality and integrity throughout the industry. These traditions remain the foundation for the rapport Hyde Park has built with both its clients and suppliers.
Continuing to grow, Hyde Park has consistently evolved within the ever-changing jewelry business and now owning & operating 7 locations. Hyde Park has also had the honor of being consistently recognized as one of the leading independent jewelers in the nation. The company remains headquartered in Denver, Colorado with its flagship store in the Cherry Creek Shopping Center. Remaining a pillar in the Colorado jewelry market, Hyde Park maintains their reputation by showcasing the region's largest collections of designer jewels, Swiss watches and bridal jewelry.
