On this auspicious day of Guru Purnima, we wholeheartedly express our gratitude to our Forefathers of Yoga; my beloved teachers: Gyandev McCord; Diksha McCord; Mooji; and those who guide my Spiritual path before & after, as we recognise the immense fortune of walking alongside such a great Master.

The word 'Guru' has Sanskrit origins, meaning ‘the dispeller of darkness’. Guru Purnima is a cherished celebration for various traditions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. It is a day of deep love and reverence, as devotees pay homage to their Guru.

We acknowledge and honour Moojibaba, whose wisdom and grace is a guiding light, pointing us beyond limitations and the sense of a journey to our true nature. Through the teachings and guidance of the Guru, we are blessed with the revelation of our innermost being. The Master wastes no time in cutting away not merely the potential but also the capacity of abiding anywhere else except in the Heart.

In Christianity, the Holy Baptism is the outward and visible sign of water, in which candidates are baptized “in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19). The inward and spiritual grace is death to sin and new birth to righteousness, through union with Christ in his death and resurrection (Romans 6:1-11). It is the purification or what is term: Washing away the Sins.

Purification is common across many religions generally with water or with the palms sealed in supplication 🙏🏽and/or a prayer. In Bali, Hindus go to the Temples - and part of the Spiritual and historical practice is generally to visit “water temples” for the purification and sanctification of the Soul.
•
On the Yoga Retreat, in our very first couple of days in Bali, we will be visiting Tirta Empul and partaking in a cleansing ceremony - praying for our safe arrival and return, but also expressing gratitude for our many Blessings. Your faith is yours - and on our visit, you are not compelled to enter the spring neither pray, but you are invited to join in this beautiful ritual, testimony and witness communicating with the Divine. Whatever you want to pray about, please feel free to do so or sit peacefully in silence.

Tirta Empul is dedicated to Vishnu, the Hindu God of water. In the Balinese language, Tirta Empul loosely translated means water gushing from the earth, which for this reason Tirta Empul is regarded as a holy spring. This is the sacred spring that gives the temple its name: tirta (or tirtha), meaning holy water, and empul meaning big spring.

In Bali, while external purification is believed to be through a dip in sacred water bodies, internal purification is through TRUTHFULNESS. In Yogic philosophy, TRUTHFULNESS is one of the higher standards of the Eighth Limb of Patanjali Sutras of Yama called SATYA.
