Since October 2014, I suffered from sciatic nerve pain and back pain from lower back degeneration. Work was hard in heavy construction and my condition was getting worse. It started with sciatic pain to my bottom, then to the leg and calves. It traveled to the ankles and foot and 3 toes went numb. I laid in bed for one week and it wasn’t getting better. I felt worthless - just laid in bed. I couldn’t do anything, and wasn’t even hungry or thirsty. I couldn’t get up from bed. It was hard to go to the bathroom. The needles don’t hurt, it was very relaxing and sometimes I would fall asleep. After the 8th session I was 80-90% better. Everyday was a good percentage of recovery. Since 2009, I was diagnosed with Hepatitis (Hemolytic). When I saw my body and my eyes turn yellow, I was scared. The yellow eyes were from a drug medication. I was urinating orange in my blood work. After I took the drug medication, I had a condition where my red blood cells became elevated. For half a year, I couldn’t go to work because of this condition. I felt weak, and I couldn’t go to social gatherings. I had anxiety and would forget things. When listening to something, I couldn’t comprehend what they were saying. I was in the hospital for 8 days, and they did a biopsy on the liver. They gave me pedialyte for adults, and I was on modern medicine treatments from 2009-2012. The redness and itching stopped for a short time while taking the medication but they came back. The doctors prescribed medications but there was no healing for me.

My first day at Agape Acupuncture was in July 2012. Everybody is nice! Happy! God recommended it to me because I was passing by the clinic and I decided to come in. I wanted healing because I have a lot of faith. When I came here I felt peaceful. I believed in natural medicine since I was a child I saw my grandma using herbs for healing. When I was in Kindergarten, my parents noticed my face and legs swell up from water retention. After visiting a doctor, they said I had childhood onset, minimal change nephrotic syndrome.

My mom, being the research-warrior that she is, decided to take me to Agape Natural Health, and commit to a natural medicine regime: very limited sugar and salt in my foods, juicing and clean foods, plus acupuncture and herbs. I was young and couldn’t swallow the herbs yet, so we got creative and ground them up with a mortar and pistol and mixed them into applesauce.

Up until that point, my body showed no signs of healing, but about three years after the diagnosis, my nephrotic syndrome completely disappeared.

July of 2017 marked the five year checkpoint without a relapse, so I was officially released from nephrotic care at CHOC Children’s hospital, the hospital that diagnosed my condition in the first place.

The doctors there were shocked and couldn’t figure out what switched in my steroid-dependent, young body. I was the first child to be released from that section of CHOC in two years. Six years ago, I found myself battling HBP (High Blood Pressure) due to overwhelming stress. Then, to my devastation, shock, and horror, about three years ago, I received the diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis—a progressive autoimmune disorder where my immune system attacks my central nervous system, causing lesions. Neurologists informed me that I had multiple lesions on my brain. Fatigue overwhelmed me, and simple tasks like writing became a struggle. My speech was affected, and I found it difficult to articulate my thoughts. Additionally, my vision deteriorated.

My son took me to urgent care, where the doctor provided me with crutches and I underwent a five-day steroid treatment. Eventually, I was provided with a walker, but when my medication dosage was lowered. I experienced a relapse, prompting an increase in dosage. I have been struggling with Systemic Sclerosis, also known as scleroderma, GERD, Anxiety, and Stress for about three years now.
