Attendees of the event may bring their own copies of Kimberla Lawson Roby’s books for the author to sign, or they can purchase copies of her books at the event. Ticket holders will be seated first; any remaining seats will then be open to the general public.
In 2006, the Virginia Peninsula Literary Consortium was formed to encourage the study and enjoyment of books and to encourage cooperation among all types of libraries on the Peninsula. It brings together the public libraries of Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson and York County, and the libraries of Christopher Newport University, Hampton University, and Thomas Nelson Community College. By presenting free and open-to-the-public events by best-selling and award-winning authors, the Virginia Peninsula Literary Consortium offers cultural experiences to which many community residents otherwise would not have access, and encourages reading and community discussions about books.
