Newport News Police Foundation
The Newport News Police Foundation is dedicated to promoting "Excellence in Policing" by providing resources not readily available from traditional funding.
Our goal is to make Newport News a better place to live, work and raise a family. For Newport News police officers, wearing the uniform is more than a job. These men and women are dedicated to protecting our citizens. But they’re not just police officers. They are fathers and mothers, they are your neighbors; they have a stake in this community just as you do. They have pride in their city, as wel
It is and we want to talk to you about one of the programs we are able to offer to our young people. Do you know what YAPC stands for?
Young Adult Police Commissioners program, or YAPC, provides a unique opportunity for the City's youth to learn about the police department and interact with officers. Members meet weekly to discuss current events and use their voices about issues that affect young people.
The YAPC consists of a freshman, sophomore, junior and senior from each high school in Newport News. Members have participated in a variety of activities, including field trips, community walks, City Council meetings, and more.
The Young Adult Police Commissioners program is coordinated by the Community & Youth Outreach Division and was launched in 2018.
You can make an impact on our youth with your donation today! See the comments for more information.
It’s Tuesday, September 24th and we are rolling so quickly through this month! Tuesday, but closer to Friday!! Make it a great day y’all!
Hey all!! It’s Megan here - It’s Monday, Sept 23rd. We are continuing our month long celebration of my birthday month!! Looking through photos I took a couple weeks ago and saw this one. Trying to get K9 Shiloh still for any photo was not going to happen. Put your captions in the comments! You know you instantly said in your dog/baby voice that’s a good doggy, you’re such a good doggy.
Megan here. It’s September 13th and we are still weeks away from one of the best days of the year. Today though is special because we have a pretty awesome thing happening. We will be able to share more in the coming days. Any guesses?
We have had such a busy day, but that’s an amazing thing! Continuing with we took a quick trip to NNPD North precinct where we met up with Sgt. Huling, Sgt. Webster, Ashley, Kaye, and Amos! Friends of Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter donated six chip readers, 2 for each precinct.
When you are trying to get that one photo with everyone paying attention and all the humans are looking….Meet Amos - he was OVER IT by this time!
We are continuing with THANK YOU to all of our supporters. We were able to provide Newport News Police Department with two power stations to use at community events. You too can get involved by meeting specific needs. Currently we need ice coolers for our events and camps that are hosted - check out our Amazon wishlist below!
It’s and we wanted to start by thanking two local businesses that donated to our pickleball tournament. Chad Ward, Bearded Realtor and Howser’s Creations LTD.
Contact Chad for all your real estate needs and Howser Creations can do all the engraving!

Sometimes when we receive a donation a note or email comes along with it…..in Memory of Sgt. Gerald “Jerry” Loose.
I am getting ready to send a check as a donation from Jerry’s classmates – the Watkins Glen Central School Class of 1985, affectionately known as the “Brew Crew from 1985.” As I mentioned, after Jerry died, his best friends from high school decided to get together every year in Jerry’s honor and never let our friendship go years without seeing each other again. We have gathered the last three years on the same weekend in June to celebrate our good friend’s life. We play our annual “Born too Loose” Memorial Golf Tournament and drink Jerry’s favorite beer – Coors Light. We smoke a few ci**rs as well - Jerry’s thing. We plan to continue this tradition for as long as we can. We got together in Jerry’s hometown of Watkins Glen, NY the year that he died. This year, we traveled to Richmond, VA. Each year, we have had between 14 and 16 classmates attend the outing. Next year we will do the memorial in Watkins Glen because it is our 40th class reunion, and we intend to open it up to all of Jerry’s classmates. The following year it will be in Texas and the year after that, we hope to do it in Newport News. At each event, we raise money for a certain charity of the host’s choosing. We have donated to Jerry’s niece’s charity and to the Gorges Givers – a charity in Jerry’s hometown that donates money to women with cancer. This year we are donating to the Newport News Police Foundation in Jerry’s honor. We direct that the foundation use the money as it sees fit. This is an amazing thing that we are doing, and it is Jerry that has rekindled our love for each other. This is a very special thing that has come from his death. Jerry loved being a part of the Newport News Police Department and we know he became part of that family down there. I have attached a picture which depicts our group from the last three years. It is an absolute honor for us to make this donation on Jerry’s behalf.
We had such a great time today at the 1st Annual NNPF Pickleball Tournament.
