I always like to brag on my clients but I am EXTREMELY proud of this one!!! This is 4 months of her working with me.
Let me tell you...she doesn’t give up. She’s committed 150% and literally nothing stops her. For being a momma of 3 young boys, she finds absolutely no excuses when it comes to her health & fitness. She amazes me and inspires me for when I have kids of my own one day!!!

Nobody said ONLY the trainer is supposed to inspire the clients, sometimes it works both ways! 💪🏼🙌🏼

It's a REAL TALK kind of moment. 🤧

This list could easily have been 2,000 reasons long, but I wanted to highlight some of the big ones that I see week to week within my community of people.⁣

1. GOALS. Trying to change your body composition without clear, definable, time-sensitive goals, is like trying to drive across the country without GPS. You NEED to hold yourself to a standard, to a timeline, and understand your goals keep you moving forward when your momentum starts to wane.⁣

2. DISCIPLINE. Discipline takes practice. It requires you to set rules for yourself, say no frequently, and not let fear, temptation, others judgement, or your lack of confidence, get in your own freaking way.⁣

3. ACCOUNTABILITY. Everyone needs accountability! I am a Fitness coach, and I myself have a coach to help me with my accountability. You need someone in your corner, cheering you on, advising your progress, pushing you forward. Even clients that are working on maintaining their weight need nutrition/fitness coaches; otherwise it's easy to slide into laziness/weight gain. You become like the 5 people you surround yourself with the most. If you don't have anyone in your corner that cares about your diet/nutrition, your chances of success are almost none. Hire a coach.⁣

4. ALL OR NOTHING. So, you ate an extra 20g of carbs today. Looks like ya might as well eat a whole pint of Ben and Jerry's + pizza. WRONG. That's like leaving your hair straightener on too long so it leaves a burn mark on your counter, is your response then to burn down your whole house!? NO.⁣

5. QUICK FIX QUEEEN. You decide you must do Paleo+Keto+Intermittent Fast plus drink celery juice. That lasts 14 seconds obviously; then you're back to Ben and Jerry's & pizza. These gimmick quick fixes are garbage. How long did it take for your body to get to this current weight/shape? Years, most likely. It's going to take you that long to get out of it, too.⁣

I'M BARELY EATING, HOW COME I'M NOT LOSING ANY WEIGHT?!!?⁣⁣

I'LL NEVER BE SKINNY...Have you ever caught yourself doing or saying this?⁣⁣
Not eating enough food actually does the opposite of what you would imagine.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Yes, you need to be in a deficit to lose weight and you'll lose more at the beginning but too much of a deficit will make your body go into starvation mode.⁣⁣

Isn't that what you need to lose weight?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
NO...not at all.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
When your body goes into starvation mode, it holds onto your body fat to store as fuel for the future as it does not know when food will be coming. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You need to be in a deficit, but the right deficit to reach your goals in the most safe and healthy way, possible.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
That is why there are qualified people to help you! Myself included.⁣⁣

DOING THE UNCOMFORTABLE STUFF: is the stuff you need to be doing to get you from where you ARE to where you WANT to be. None of us are exempt from uncomfortableness when we are try to break bad habits, incorporate new ones, change our life direction & grow into new spaces.⁣

When you see someone that's successfully lost weight, launched a business, started a new career, graduated from medical school, paid off all their debt: KNOW that this person MADE the way, even though they had a MILLION excuses not to succeed, they were so determined, that excuses were not an option and that set them apart.⁣

They are no different than you or I. We all can come up with a 100 excuses why we "can't" change:⁣

"I don't have the money."⁣
"I don't have the time."⁣
"I don't have the energy."⁣
-⁣
While you might think they're valid, they are not. What you're telling yourself in fact is:⁣
-⁣
"This goal isn't important enough to spend the money on."⁣
"I'd rather spend my time watching Netflix."⁣
"I'm wasting my energy on menial tasks. I could easily get the kids on carpool to school, hire someone to walk the dog & get groceries delivered, saving me energy/stress."⁣

As a health & fitness coach, I need people to be on board with change. That's because their current habits got them where they are: discontented, seeking me out for help. So the first thing I ask them is if they're willing to set aside excuses: if their goals are important enough to wade thru the crap & get uncomfortable with me.⁣

The idea of GROWTH is exciting. The pain- physical, mentally, emotionally - that it takes to leave behind the old for the new - it's not exciting; it's uncomfortable. But lemme tell you, it's SO SO WORTH IT. ⁣

BIGGEST BARRIERZ❕❕❕

WHAT ELSE IS STOPPING YOU!🤔

I mentioned yesterday the biggest mistakes I see young women making, but NOW here’s the biggest barriers I see challenging young women. If you are a young women who wants to lose weight and have more energy/confidence so that you can make more money, make a bigger impact in the world and attract a partner for the long run...these are the things keeping you from succeeding. If you have these things I believe you’re guaranteed to succeed.👌🏼

Over the last couple of years and training people these are the the 3 BIGGEST BARRIERS I believe are stopping you from losing weight, feeling confident and powering/transforming your body.

The first barrier standing in your way is that you don’t have a clearly defined workout structure built for a young women. You fail to know how to do resistance training so you can keep your hormones in balance, your metabolism on fire for days in advance so that you’re constantly burning calories WHILE keeping your energy levels way up..WHILE building some muscle! There are ways to do this right and ways to do this wrong. You may feel too overwhelmed as a young, busy women that this is keeping you from having time to structure a well built workout into your daily schedule. (Maybe working a full time job while balancing school and trying to do all the other daily things that come along with this) this results in the fact that you continue to fight an uphill battle with your energy, confidence and allowing yourself to make a bigger impact in the world. 🌍

The second barrier that is standing in your way is trying to stick to unrealistic diets (like avoid carbs”, restricting how much you’re eating, when in reality you NEED to be eating MORE. You need a meal plan that’s designed as a LIFESTYLE, to fit your LIFESTYLE...don’t you want to be able to eat your cake and your pizza too WHILE you’re in the making of those baby abs!? This has probably resulted in your body having a time bomb called “BINGE EATING”...this has nothing to do with willpower and it isn’t your fault...you’ve probably just been given faulty diets that need to be thrown out the window! 🥯

How do you find the perfect start to your fitness journey?🤔

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in life...it’s that there’s never a “perfect” time for anything.

We think of excuses to put things off because change is usually extremely uncomfortable. 🥺
-
Here’s how I think of it: If you’re waiting for that perfect time, it’s never going to come. If something seems ‘comfortable’ or like ‘perfect timing’, chances are you probably waited too long.
-
👊🏼 “I don’t have time right now. One day when I get out of school, I’ve graduated college, I get through this rough patch, THEN I’ll get started”
👊🏼”As soon as I get my diet on track, THEN I’ll work on fitness”
👊🏼”As soon as I get my car paid off, THEN I’ll invest in a gym membership.”
👊🏼”Once the new year gets here, THEN I’ll start _____ again”

These are all the excuses and mental barriers I hear constantly that are STOPPING you from reaching your goals. 🛑
-
Truth be told, once “this” is over, I can almost guarantee that another excuse will fill its place.

Stop looking for the perfect time, stop making excuses and get started NOW.

HIIT vs STEADY STATE?!

Would you rather walk on the treadmill for 40 minutes or knock it out in half the time?!

Guess what? 30% worldwide know that physical activity is healthy, yet don’t get enough.

HIIT involves short bursts of high intensity exercise alternated with low-intensity recovery periods. (Plus, it’s the most time-efficient way to exercise...hints...NO EXCUSES NOW😯😏)

🏃🏻‍♀️ burn lots of calories in a short amount of time.
🏃🏻‍♀️your metabolic rate is higher for hours after exercise.
🏃🏻‍♀️it can help you lose fat

🏃🏻‍♀️ lowers HR + BP
