They were able to have the conversation about the challenges families living in extended stay motels face and all of the ways that you can get involved in Motel to Home and help. As you know, SPARC is committed to helping families in extended stay hotels transition from homelessness to stably housed. As we close out financial literacy month, we wanted to give a very special shout out to Alice Seal. became a volunteer with SPARC after sitting next to our CEO at a luncheon. After hearing about what SPARC does, Alice stepped up and began to volunteer. She coordinated a group of her friends to adopt our single parent families during the holidays, brought her friends with her to our Motel to Home Paint and Sip and brought her husband on board, not only as a sponsor, but as a volunteer with her for our National Single Parent Day event. Alice is especially passionate about financial literacy and was really excited to facilitate a workshop for our group of single moms currently enrolled in our Financial Achievement Club. At SPARC, single does not mean alone so we are grateful for the support of Alice and her entourage. If you want to volunteer like Alice, drop us a comment below!

Yesterday, thanks to Pinnacle Financial Partners, we gave our single moms a morning off. We invited them to drop their children off to do a Mother's Day craft while they took a couple of hours of me time. And yet... you see moms in the picture with their kiddies. Single moms are so unused to getting a break that they didn't know how to take one when it was offered! Single moms, I know it's hard, but let's start taking breaks when we can and practicing self care. We matter! Would you have been able to take the break if it was offered to you? Take the quiz and then add what you do for self care in the comments below.

SPARC in the Park is a FREE monthly event presented by SPARC to give single parents an opportunity to meet, connect and expand their social capital. Single does not mean alone so SPARC in the Park is our version of a family cookout for all single parents to relax, relate, and release.

It’s Monday and here's today’s SPARC moment that matters! This weekend, we spent our time doing the things that matter most at SPARC. We were able to do outreach at a couple of our extended-stay motels and get to know the families who live there and identify ways we can help. One of our partner hotels told us 200 children live there 😩 This weekend also gave us the opportunity to give our volunteers an up close and personal look at the work that we do to support families. We are forever grateful to United Way of Greater Atlanta for its ongoing support of our work with families living in motels. We truly appreciate Evelyn Lw Cooper Lisette Reyes Sue Fuller Sullivan for volunteering with us and a huge shout out to Ariel Ruffin, the coach who oversees this program and makes things happen. Of course, we would be nowhere without the amazing leadership of our Founder/CEO Joy Monroe. At SPARC, single does not mean alone so if you are looking for a way to get hands on and give back, we welcome your support. Feel free to leave us a comment or send us a message! Make it a magical Monday!

Hey there, single parents! From time to time we can all use a little pick me up. Because we are single parents, we know that some of those times, we have to be the ones to pick ourselves up. When this happens, take a moment to acknowledge how much you have accomplished and how far you have come. Use that knowledge to regain your energy and keep your momentum going. Every obstacle you overcome is one step closer to success. So take a deep breath, stand tall and keep pushing forward. You’ve got this, and we’ve got you!

All About SPARC

Click to watch the video: https://www.singleparent411.org/about-us/

What is single parenthood?

Is it the joy of watching your children grow? The stress of making ends meet? The hope of a happy future? Loneliness and uncertainty? The never ending search for time and energy to do everything that must be done in a single day, by one person? The nagging fear that in spite of what they say, your best just might not be good enough?

Single parenthood is all of that and more.
