Lip tattoo tips!💋

A safe color choice when doing a lip blush tattoo is to choose a natural healed color that matches the inside of the lip tissue.

This is because the outer edges of the tattoo will fade slower then the inner tissues so you want the outer edges to still match the inside of the lips after a year or so and some fading has happened.

✨This doesn’t necessarily mean you create a pigment color that matches the inner lip tissue, but you create a pigment color that when combined with the current lip tissue color, will HEAL to match the inner lip tissue.

This is when knowledge of color theory and skin undertones become so important.

Permanent makeup is not always a 100% replacement for makeup! And for good reason.

Sometimes I wish it wasn’t even called permanent makeup, it’s more of an “enhancement” than a solid makeup replacement.

Yes, for some people it may replace makeup but it depends on your daily makeup routine and what you like. If you like a natural brow then it may be enough for you, but if you like a very bold brow then you may find yourself still wanting to wear makeup over top in order to intensify the appearance. However, having a nice brow tattoo will make your makeup routine take a fraction of the time bc you can easily trace over the tattoo.

Same with eyeliner. If you’re used to wearing a black wing with liquid liner then the shaded wing tattoo may not feel like enough for you, But you can easily trace over it and now you have a permanent stencil! Its so easy.

The reason the tattoo will never be as bold as makeup is bc the ink goes under the skin which softens the appearance. Also, with modern day techniques we purposely keep the tattoo very soft and airy because if we go too heavy it will look like a tattoo on your face, and we don’t want that. We want it to look natural. Heavily saturated brows and eyeliner tattoos do not look good at all, especially after a few years.

So we keep it lightly saturated, soft, and airy, and that way it looks natural and fades faster. Fading fast is a good thing because then you can get fresh color and shape whenever needed. Typically every 2-4 years is all you need for brows.

So if it’s been a year or two and you find yourself wanting to fill your brows in with makeup again, that’s okay! That doesn’t mean you need a touch up. Just put makeup on over top which will take a second since you’re just tracing and give the tattoo some more time to fade.

The more faded your brows are at your 2-4 year touch up, the better the result over time.
