Senators Greg McCortney and Jessica Garvin, both well-entrenched incumbents, were beat handily in their respective primary races this week. McCortney fell by a 4-point margin and Garvin by a 6-point margin. Garvin has been openly hostile toward abolitionists during her time in office and McCortney was one of the most liberal members of the GOP Senate caucus.
The implications of McCortney’s loss are far reaching. McCortney would likely have been the next Pro Tem in the Senate. His loss may open the way for Senator David Bullard, who is far more conservative, to win that race. McCortney would have continued to block any abolition bills from being heard. Bullard, however, has seemed to move in the right direction on the issue. There is, at least, potential that this could be a positive step for abolitionism. Time will tell.
A few other candidates that seem to at least be friendly to our movement were also successful this week. Molly Jenkins unseated incumbent Republican John Talley (HD 33) in a landslide, garnering over 60% of the vote, and Kendal Sacchieri unseated Garvin (SD 43). Sheriff Tim Turner won the open seat vacated by Rep. Randy Randleman (HD 15) and Doctor Randy Grellner won the open seat vacated by Sen. Duggar (SD 21).
Abolitionist Senator Warren Hamilton did not have a primary opponent but will face Democrat Jerry Donathan. The general election will be on November 5.

Oklahomans react to Supreme Court's approval of abortion pill On May 13, the U.S. Supreme Court released a highly anticipated decision that allows the FDA-approved use of Mifepristone, an abortion pill.
It’s a crying shame that the erlc of the SBC in particular & the messengers of the SBC in general don’t understand this…
“"Do justice to the afflicted and needy." Even they can claim from you as judge no more than justice; your pity for their circumstances must not make you hold the scales unfairly: but if you give them no more than justice, AT LEAST BE SURE THAT YOU GIVE THEM THAT TO THE FULL. Suffer not the afflicted to be further afflicted by enduring injustice, and let not the needy long stand in need of an equitable hearing.”

Abolish Abortion OK Announces Endorsement for Sen. Warren Hamilton
Senator Hamilton (Re-Elect State Senator Warren Hamilton) has established himself as a bold and courageous advocate for conservative principles in general, and especially for the rights of our preborn neighbors. Senator Hamilton has stood as an example for what it means to be a statesman. He has authored bills to abolish abortion and has debated against meaningless incremental bills that do absolutely nothing except provide cover for pro-life politicians that have no intention of ever actually ending abortion in Oklahoma. He is a man of character and a principled legislator that refuses to compromise. For these reasons, the Board of Directors of Abolish Abortion Oklahoma has endorsed Senator Warren Hamilton’s bid for reelection to the Oklahoma State Senate.
Abolish Abortion OK Announces Endorsements for Huggans and Shilling
Two candidates for Oklahoma State House have received endorsements from the Board of Directors of Abolish Abortion Oklahoma. Matt Huggans (Matt Huggans 2024 is running for State House District 42, currently held by Representative Cynthia Roe. Jason Shilling (Jason Shilling for State House) is running for State House District 32, currently held by Representative Kevin Wallace.
Both Huggans and Shilling completed the AAOK Candidate Survey online. Both received a 100% score on their surveys. The survey asks the candidate a series of questions meant to gauge their level of support for a bill to abolish the practice of abortion under Oklahoma law. Mr. Shilling and Mr. Huggans have both committed to author a bill of abolition if elected to the State House.
Shilling is running against Kevin Wallace. Rep. Wallace is the Chairman of the House Appropriations and Budget Committee. Rep. Wallace has supported traditional pro-life bills that simply seek to regulate abortion rather than abolish it.
Huggans is running against Cynthia Roe. Rep. Roe has served as the Chairperson of the House Public Health Committee. In her tenure she has been involved to a much greater degree in the writing and shepherding of incremental bills. In 2023, she was the chairman of the House committee that heard and passed SB368 to the House Floor. A handful of legislators from both chambers attempted to use this bill to sneak exceptions back into state law that would have reopened abortion clinics in Oklahoma. We do not know to what level Rep. Roe was involved in that plan, but she was most certainly aware of it. Rep. Roe has a long history of regulating abortion with absolutely no intention to actually abolish it.
Hey, Oklahomans! Mark your calendars for May 25th, where we'll be meeting to discuss legislative efforts, strategizing with other abolitionists in the state, and enjoying some food together. There is no cost for the event, however, donations will be accepted.

Legislative Update: 2023 Bills Still Active – Abolish Abortion Oklahoma Just a reminder, the Legislature works on two-year cycles, beginning each odd-numbered year. That means a bill filed in odd-numbered years, if not defeated by a vote during that year, is still available to be heard during the following even-numbered year. In other words, last year's bills are still....
Congratulations Dusty Deevers!
Ol' Tony and Oklahomans for Life are at it again. Even after being soundly defeated by Oklahomans last year, they are once again calling for the reintroduction of r**e and in**st exceptions, which would reopen clinics. It shows their depraved philosophy that needs to die.
"[Lincoln] was a realist who understood the practical need for incrementalism and prudence in successfully achieving that goal.
In his first debate with Senator Stephen Douglas in 1858, Lincoln said: “With public sentiment, nothing can fail; without it, nothing can succeed."
This was cowardice on the part of Lincoln then, and cowardice on the part of Oklahomans for Life now. What was the result of both Lincoln and Lauinger's cowardice? The perpetuity of the evil of their day.
God had to use a war to end slavery through judgement. The culture never truly repented. We, on the other hand, SHOULD.
When Oklahomans for Life inevitably supports legislation this legislative session, it's safe to say that whatever they support should be opposed by Christians, unless God does a work on their hearts, and they repent and support the abolition bill.
