Congratulations to the Wheatfield Blades on winning the WNYAHL Bantam Major Blue Division Championship on Sunday.

Trailing 1-0 after the first period, Michael Cardamone got the Blades on the scoreboard with just 2:35 remaining in the second period, followed by Nate Robison netting two goals just 45 seconds apart to conclude the period. Cheektowaga managed to level the score with just 0.8 seconds remaining, forcing the game into overtime. Conner Carr sealed the victory four minutes into OT with a one-timer assisted by Nate Hammond. Parker Lukasavich made 32 saves in goal.

Congratulations to the Wheatfield Blades on winning the WNYAHL Bantam Minor Green Division Championship on Saturday. Jayden Ventura, Ryder Katz and Henri Arena scored in a 3-2 win with Arena’s goal with 2:37 remaining serving as the game-winner. Derek Birkemeier made 23 saves in goal.

The Wheatfield Blades Hockey Association mourns the tragic loss of longtime coach and friend, Ken Dewey. Ken was a one-of-a-kind person and all who knew him were better for it. Through his efforts and unique approach, a generation of Wheatfield Blades hockey players received positive development not only as athletes but as young men. If you played with, or for, Ken, it's an experience you'd never forget. The entire Wheatfield Blades and Western New York hockey communities are diminished by his absence. We offer our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Kelli (former Blades Board member), sons Brenden and Blake (former Blades players) as well as the innumerable friends Ken made over the years. Please take a moment to remember Ken and offer a prayer for him and his family during this difficult time.

Congratulations to the Wheatfield Blades 2016 mite select team for finishing runner-up in the Niagara Sports Blizzard Challenge this weekend. The Blades battled hard all weekend and fell just short in the title game 4-3 in a shootout against a tough opponent from Toronto.
