This looks like fun! What will you find to pickle at Abundance Farm?
QUICK PICKLE PARTY happening next Wednesday, July 24 during Community Harvest Hours 3-6pm! Bring your own jar and stuff it with in-season cucumbers, beans, garlic, peppers, or whatever other delicious goodies you can find here on the farm. Leave with a jar of quick pickles bound for your fridge.

Did you know that Pioneer Valley Transit Authority is offering free rides this summer to celebrate its 50 years of service? Fares and passes will be eliminated for bus, van, and other transit services through August 31.
This is Frannie. Her mom Emily volunteers at the Center and tells us Frannie loves carrots as much as we do! 😄🥕
City of Northampton has opened cooling centers to help folks beat the heat. Options include the Division of Community Care, Forbes Library, Lilly Library, Manna Community Kitchen, and the Northampton Police Department lobby. Stay cool and drink plenty of water!
Do you know the Center relies on hundreds of volunteers weekly to distribute food to our clients? Volunteers typically work one or more shifts every week helping us with things like delivering food, greeting clients who arrive for distribution, stocking shelves, picking up donations, shopping for clients, and packing orders.

It's Carlos's birthday! 🥳
As our Distribution Manager, Carlos is responsible for ordering the food that keeps our shelves stocked. Since he's got our food taken care of, Carlos asked us to help celebrate his birthday by putting out a call for personal care items, saying "We always need things like toilet paper, shampoo, toothpaste, and body wash!"
To donate toiletries in honor of Carlos's birthday, stop by on a Tuesday or Thursday or send something directly from our wishlist: https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/33FKF2788X76K?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR1hoYcY-IV2NRqkIwhcFFaj1brCtgTPfK8kqh3Wou-_mz3V1XzfcOyZZGw_aem_qoYbjJ48irsUKy2Z0Yja6Q
THANK YOU to the mystery donor who sent 32 bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash to the Center after seeing our request! Keep 'em coming!

We have volunteers ready to accept donations! This week we could especially use body wash, toothpaste, shampoo, and conditioner. Have some to donate? Stop by Tuesday or Thursday between 12 & 3 PM to drop off unused toiletries for clients.
We have 11 dedicated folks celebrating their volunteer anniversaries with us this month! 🥳
Just look at all this beautiful produce donated by Stonebridge Farm to our Hilltown Pantry in Goshen! 🤩 (There are beautiful local eggs too.) We just love it when farms share the bounty with our clients.
The Springfield Thunderbirds collected 219 pounds of food for the Northampton Survival Center last month! (Plus, our Development Director Danielle and volunteer Bonnie met Boomer, the Thunderbirds mascot.)
Want to schedule your own food drive to benefit the Center's clients? Email us at info(at)northamptonsurvival(dot)org to work out the details!

It's Heriberto's birthday! 🥳
Heriberto (Eddy) is our Delivery & Care Coordinator and coordinates the logistics of delivering nutritious groceries to nearly 400 clients.
Want to help us celebrate Eddy's birthday? Sign up to be a delivery volunteer! Volunteers help us bring food to housing sites and individual homes every Tuesday and Thursday. The demand is so great that we have a waitlist of clients who would like delivery. More volunteers = more clients served. Reach out to help us today and make Eddy's day!
Did you know the Northampton Survival Center works with a diverse group of artists each year to create a set of 12 gratitude postcards for our monthly Bread & Butter donors? Meet one of this year's artists: Martha Brouwer!
Martha got her bachelor’s degree from Lawrence University and her master's degree from Harvard University. She was a weaver for four years before becoming a graphic artist. During the past 23 years, she has devoted herself to painting—primarily acrylics but also mixed media using collage.
Want your very own set of postcards? Sign up to be a recurring Bread & Butter donor today!
This week's harvest list is up for Abundance Farm. What will you pick this week? 🤔
Thanks to Jackson Street School's toiletry drive, we've got diapers in much-needed larger sizes! We're participating in the United Way of the Franklin & Hampshire Region,'s diaper drive all month--diaper donations are always welcome.
A big thank you to the Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts (GSCWM) Nonotuck Service Unit for donating cookies to the Center. (And special thanks to their delivery helpers: Cathy of Brownie Troop 65254 and Judy of Daisy Troop 65207!)
Want to bring by your own donations of nonperishable food? Stop by today between 12 & 3 PM and look for the door with the carrot on it!
We're closed on Wednesday, June 19 in honor of Juneteenth.
Our regular office/donation hours will resume on Thursday, and our next drive-through distribution is scheduled for Friday, 12-3 p.m. See you then!
Lots of great options at Abundance Farm this week! They're open every day, sunrise to sunset for pick-your-own.
🎉 Celebrating our volunteer's "grape" work this month! 🍇 Thank you, volunteers!
Harvest something delicious at Abundance Farm this week (and every week of the summer)!
One month later we're still grateful for all the people who donated money, food, and time to help us have a successful Post Office Food Drive! With the help of 100+ volunteers, postal carriers, and staff we collected 18,301 pounds of food to distribute to clients.
See you next year on the second Saturday in May!
Planning to stop by tomorrow with some donations? Whether it's a trunk full of toilet paper like Julia, here, or a donation of nonperishable food, we have volunteers ready to help from 12-3 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Just look for the carrot door when you arrive.
This month, we're also participating in the United Way of the Franklin & Hampshire Region,'s diaper drive! (Diapers in sizes 4 and 5 are especially needed right now.)

If your gift to the Northampton Survival Center looks different on your recent statement, don't worry! Banks and card companies sometimes change the way they show charges on your statement, and we can't control what they write. (They don’t always notify us in advance, either. 😑)
Thank you to The Montessori School of Northampton for holding a food drive and donating more than 400 pounds of food to the Northampton Survival Center this week!
