Be an EMT with the Sheriff's Office and provide meaningful care to our justice-involved individuals with services including withdrawal management, checking vital signs, managing the Clinical Op**te Withdrawal Scale and the Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment for Alcohol, admission intake screenings, and on-site emergency responses.

Our goal is to host 1 or 2 larger-sized practical training sessions in the coming fiscal year here in Western Mass. If you are in need of this training please complete this form at your earliest convenience so we can work out when and where to best schedule these programs. Service leadership can fill this form out on behalf of their members: it does not need to be completed by the party in need.

Springfield Police Officer Nestor Santos was shot in the face and leg on Wednesday night. He is currently in a Boston area hospital and has a bullet fragment lodged in his head. He has had one surgery, and Doctors were able to save his eye, but he will likely lose his vision in one eye. He will likely need several more surgeries before he is released. During this incident, seven suspects were arrested and seven illegal fi****ms including an AR-15 style rifle were recovered.

As we come into Memorial Day weekend we wish everyone a safe and fun weekend. The fallen would not want us to mourn this weekend but to live and honor their sacrifices. Join us in congratulating three of our members who graduated from paramedic school today! Becoming a paramedic is an enormous increase in responsibility to provide the highest level of pre hospital care.

This includes IV medications, advanced airway management, 12-Lead interpretation along with manual synchronized cardioversion and defibrillation just to name a few of the advanced life support skills we are trained for.

After a long process the Regional Council has voted in Dr. Kenneth Knowles as our new Regional Medical Director. Dr. Knowles is part of Baystate Emergency Medicine primarily out of Baystate Wing Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at UMass Chan Medical School - Baystate.

We would like to thank our outgoing Regional Medical Director, Dr. Gerald "Wook" Beltran, for his years of service to the Region and emergency medicine as a whole. Please join us in congratulating both of these providers on their achievements!
