Northville is lucky to have so many amazing community organizations! This year, Jason and I supported this year's Golf de Ville Charity Classic-- which saw a 48% increase over the inaugural event in 2023! As a result, there has been $40k additional support towards local and regional non-profit organizations like the Living & Learning Enrichment Center. Additionally, the Northville Club and Foundation recently agreed to a major contribution towards the Ford Field playscape renovations in Northville in support of area children. Thank you Mary Kay Gallagher for the opportunity to widen the ways in which we can support the larger Northville community. The Northville Rotary Club is lucky to have your leadership!

TWICE AS NICE: Second Northville player selected in MLB Draft 07/17/2024

Pretty incredible for a public high school to have not just one, but two students drafted to the MLB right out of high school. Plus, several young men are going on to play D1 and other levels of college baseball. Proud to serve the Northville Public Schools thru the Board of Education to support our community as we strive toward excellence for each student.

TWICE AS NICE: Second Northville player selected in MLB Draft Although he didn’t throw a single pitch during Northville’s first-ever state championship season that ended in dramatic fashion in mid-June, left-handed flame-thrower Joey Broughton showed enough stuff during his first three seasons — and during high-level summer competition — to draw the at...

Sitting here watching the number of states implementing a ban on cell phones in schools K12…proud to have led efforts in NPS to implement an Away for the Day policy for personal devices K8 effective this next school year.
The state budget just cut our mental health and safety funding by a significant amount…guess what costs ZERO dollars…supporting mental health by removing the interruptions and distractions by personal devices in the classroom. I’d like to move towards a ban K12…we will get there.

As the monthly of July arrives, I am excited to announce my campaign for re-election to the Northville School Board. Serving for the past 3.5 years has been a tremendous privilege and I remain centered on What's Best for Kids for another term. My family is in full support, knowing the positive impact on the community with my leadership over this first term.

Grateful for the branding work with stunning results by Memora on my new website and branding, and for the incredible photo session with Aly Darin Johnson-Hill.

Given the surprising news out of Lansing this week in regards to public education foundation allowance for 2024-25 school year, now more than ever, my steadfast leadership and depth of understanding of Northville Public Schools is critical to the continued success of our students and our district. Democracy and governance are action words; honored to serve our community. 💜🧡🖤

On this gorgeous summer day, as a BOE trustee currently serving as Vice- President for Northville Schools, I woke up to the news that the Michigan Legislature passed a budget in the middle of the night, before they recess for the summer. In this budget approved by the house and the senate - no additional dollars for school aid foundation were included. They cut mental health and safety grant funding for schools by 98%...in the middle of a mental health crisis for teens and ongoing gun violence in our communities. While some might say that the rate reduction in the monies districts contribute to the healthcare funds for teachers will offset the zero increase, we don't needs more one time money for our community public schools.
Start calling people...this is unacceptable. Northville has steady leadership and smart people advocating for our kids and educators, and we will continue to do just that. Demand that your legislators come up with an amendment to their budget upon returning from summer recess.

06/26/2024

For those paying attention to school finance over the summer like I am, we received a proposed budget from the state for next school year with a $0 foundational increase. So in essence, the state plans to underfund community public schools. Unacceptable. There is more to be concerned about, but that is the highlight.

So proud of this girl!!! She completed her Spanish IB exam…just four more days of high school!!
Her road has been winding…pre-school and Kindergarten and half of first grade in Arizona, the other half of first and all of second grade at Ridge Wood. Third and fourth in ALPS at Amerman. Fifth grade at Ridge Wood in a traditional classroom. AR and Advanced Math at Hillside. Repeated Algebra 1 in 9th grade due to the stress of Covid interrupted learning. Took all on level courses in grades 9&10. For 11&12 grade, she decided to pursue the IB Diploma Program and has completed it!

I share the journey for those interested and are concerned about the looming decisions around ALPS for current 2nd graders. As parents, I see my task is to always advocate for my kids and also to support them wherever their journey takes them. And to be the sturdy leader they need when navigating childhood.
