is different from #1 in the way it is less of a spine rotating arm balance and more of a hip flexing, ADdicting, crunching, chaturanga-ing arm balance… 🤷🏻‍♂️ if that makes any sense 🤔… put in other words we approach it like we do the standard Crowe pose but legs split and extended more. Although not an easy arm balance, we’ve noticed on some of our classes anyway, that more people get into this koundinyasana VS the ones we’ve posted in previous weeks. Funny thing about arm balances, not everyone gets in to Crowe first. Occasionally we attempt these postures in some of our P3 classes.

It’s not only about stretching, strength, stability, endurance, or support. Postural yoga also gives us the opportunity to be come more self aware and present in the moment. Of course nothing works if we don’t show. Come take some classes and see if you can get a routine. Repetition yields results + class packages do expire, so use em or lose em 👏👏👏

is the same as Eka Pada Koundinyasana I but instead of the legs split the legs are stacked. In regards of strength and approach there is not relatively any difference but as is the case for koundinyasana I, one may need to get pretty comfortable holding a side crowd before stacking straight legs.

Every month we have a post dedicated to a posture or posture family. June we’re going g to share some of the arm balances in the family. Here is I which is essentially our with legs split. It has the same spinal rotation and mainly the same hip and course engagement but the legs are held apart. This is a more challenging arm balance for sure compared to our normal Crowe but if we@can comfortably hold Crowe we may be to condition areas to add a new arm balance like this in the mix. Be patient, postures like these are sometimes just not accessible or they may require time to condition and get comfortable before it does become accessible.

Yoga, whether a postural practice or a different form, can give us an opportunity to find out more about ourselves. From the physical body, to the mind, to the emotions, we can discover we are for sure complex but also powerful, magnificent, even miraculous. There’s a lot to manage in life and being embodied but there is a lot that we inherit through this embodiment that is beneficent, serving, and there for you when you need it, even when money isn’t. In this way you can find abundance and wealth within yourself.

Need some help feeling what 180 degree open pelvis rotation is like in ? Well park your but against a wall and feel it that way. This will not only get us comfortable opening pelvis and stacking the hips but can also spot us as we work on stability. Eventually as we get more acclimatized to where things should be in this posture as may be able to do it with no wall or even no block.

can be done with top arm relaxed holding the top side hip or with a broad chest and separated arms, as we would have in a triangle pose. The main thing we want to achieve before taking different arm options is getting the bones to stack and be comfortable on the standing leg while getting the pelvis open all the way from the floor to stack the hips. Once we get comfortable with that and working our hip ADductors to keep back leg elevated more options open, like which is essentially like dancer pose with the pelvis open and the hips stacked.

Practicing from quadruped is a great alternative to the standing version but also a great way to prepare for the standing version later on. We can get the sensitivity of what opening the pelvis feels like, firing hip ABductors (outter hip,) as well as the scapula retraction when we open the arms. This is also a good way to practice grabbing the ankle for.

Yoga is Powerful

What does Yoga mean to you?

Like some we once looked at yoga as just a bunch of stretches, incense, and psychedelic looking dancing elephants. However we gave it a try, and pysically it felt different, it felt good! We took it further and gave it more attention. We opened our minds to it’s teachings and concepts, we tried it’s varieties of practices and found there is something powerful here. Yoga literally means “union”, “junction”, or “connection” and we are becoming more familiar with the benefits of it’s great physical exercises, but yoga can be much more for anyone who wants to take it there. Simply put it bridges the voids we may have in our lives. Our fears, our anxieties, our stress, we all have them, and they can hold us back from our full potential and enjoyment of the life experience. Yoga can bridge that gap. ...and it may sound a little far out, but it worked for us, so we have been extremely motivated to share & serve with the practice of yoga. We believe on the other side of “the gap” or “the voids” we may have in our lives a waits unconditional love... WE ALL DESERVE THAT! ...and love is always worth it, always empowering. We’d love you to come yoga with use and have a great time doing it!
