Week 1 of Summer Camp was "Sand-tastic"! Children had fun creating sand art pictures, sand playdough, and playing with the sand both outside and inside (sensory table fun). For a special treat on Wednesday, the children were able to enjoy some shaved ice! Yum!

May 8, 2024 Severe Weather Forecasts
Dear Discovery Families,
The National Weather Service has issued warnings of severe thunderstorms today. According to the NWS, our region is under a flood watch until midnight tonight and thunderstorms are forecasted to begin between 1-4 pm. The NWS forecast states, “Several waves of severe thunderstorms are expected today from late morning into early evening. Locally heavy rainfall and flash flooding is possible. There is still uncertainty in the forecast, both in timing and strength of thunderstorms.”

All our programs will continue as planned. However, we encourage parents to monitor weather when planning pickups. If storm sirens are activated, children cannot be released until there is an all clear. However, parents may enter the building to shelter with us if they have arrived for pick up.

Solar Eclipse - April 8, 2024

Discovery is proud to be home to many military children and families.

On Monday, April 15th, we encourage all Discovery children, families, and staff to wear purple to visually show our support and to thank military children for their strength and sacrifices.

Across the nation, April is designated as the Month of the Military Child. According to the Defense Department, there are more than 1.6 million military children who face challenges and unique experiences as a result of their parents’ service. The month of April provides the opportunity to honor their resilience and sacrifices.

The color purple is a representative combination of all of the colors of the U.S. Armed Forces: Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard blue, Army green, and Marine Corps red.

Reminder: Discovery School O'Fallon IL will be closed Wednesday, March 27th - Monday, April 1st for Spring Break. School will resume on Tuesday, April 2nd.

Today State Representative Kevin Schmidt visited Discovery as part of his “Day in the District”. He read the book “Yani the Yeti: And the Power of Yet” by Katie Mense to two of our classes and donated the book to be a permanent part of our school library. 📚 After he visited our playground and tried out our outdoor music wall. 🎶 Thank you State Representative Schmidt for visiting Discovery and seeing all the great things we are doing each day! ☺️❤️💙
