We are needing one more parent volunteer to help out with school pictures tomorrow (helping students fix hair, making sure clothing is on correct, glasses are clean, etc). If you are available from 9 to 11:30am tomorrow and would like to help, please let us know asap by commenting below. To volunteer, you must have completed the mandatory volunteer training for THIS school year. For volunteering, you will get one 8x10 photo of 1 student for free.

Schaefer Elementary has open positions in various fields. We would love our community members to become a part of the Schaefer Family. We currently have the following positions available:

RTI Aide (6 hrs)

Preschool For All Program Aide (6 hrs)

Instructional Aide (5 hrs)

Custodian (8 hrs)

Substitute Teachers, Aides, and Noon Hour Supervisors

Bus Drivers (Contracted through IL Central Bus Company) - See Flyer shared below

Make sure you stop by the photo op in front of the school and get your back to school picture on your way into Open House. The PTO table is in front of the Library and we have Smencils, Wildcat Crocs jibbits and Schaefer Wildcats car magnets for sale.

Library Volunteers needed!!!

Anyone who wishes to volunteer or help out in the library must attend training for new information and procedures, as well as a new catalog website. Per district staff, all volunteers must complete library training annually now. Training will take place at Fulton, Carriel and Moye and will be applicable to all schools. O’Fallon Police Officers brought a pop up BBQ to Schaefer 2nd Graders today. Officer Goodman even broke out his guitar and played some songs for staff and students. Check out the video in the comments for the fun!

This delicious snack cart made its way around Schaefer today! Gus’s Pretzels and sodas from Fitz’s. We love our Schaefer staff!

Teachers got to enjoy their own Candyland today. Congrats to Mrs. Lillie’s class for being the first class to get todays ridiculous riddle right!

Doughnuts and Fraps today for “Do or Donut” day! Congrats to Mrs. Fore’s class for being the first to answer today’s riddle correctly! Do you know why the doughnut went to the dentist?!? 😊😋

Next week is Teacher AND Nurse Appreciation Week and we have lots of fun planned at Marie Schaefer. We encourage you to take the time next week to show your appreciation to our amazing Schaefer Teachers and Nurse Erin! Ways you can help us show our gratitude for all they do: write a thank you note, purchase items off of their Amazon Classroom wish lists, make a donation to a Donors Choose project they are working to fund, and we know gift cards are always appreciated by our hard working teachers. We cannot wait for all the fun!!!!

Students are shopping the Book Fair this Week!!!! If you are setting up an eWallet for your student to shop with, please make sure it is done prior to your child's class attending the fair. The schedule this week is:
Tuesday: 3rd and 2nd Grade
Wednesday: 4th Grade and PreK
Thursday: Kinder and 5th Grade
Friday: 1st Grade and PreK

Prepackaged school supply boxes for the 2024-2025 school year are now available for purchase! Toolkits will be delivered to the school and will be waiting for you to collect at this years Open House on August 12th.

We are making one final plea for help with our Spring Book Fair next week. We still have several classes that have 0, 1, or 2 volunteers signed up to help. This is not enough help. Each class always needs two volunteers to work the cash registers. In addition to them, our K-2nd classes need one adult for every 2-3 students to help with shopping and our older classes need 1 adult for every 4-5 students. If we are unable to secure enough help for all classes, we unfortunately will have to make the difficult decision to cancel all in school shopping for our students. :-( Please consider helping with any of the classes, even if it is not your child's class.

The Marie Schaefer PTO will be selling Smencils Friday, April 19th before school for $1.00 each. Schaefer students go CRAZY over these pencils, and we have a nice variety of scents to share with them.
*****CASH only, no big bills please. Exact change would be much appreciated!

April is the month of the Military Child. In support we have dress up days starting Monday the 15th. We would love to have all the support we can get!!

Door Decorating week is coming up quickly and we still have 12 of our home room teachers doors that need volunteers to decorate their doors. Our teachers love this!!!!! Please click on the link for more information and to sign up for a door!

We are less than two weeks out from our Spring BOGO book fair and still have over half of our classes without any volunteers signed up to help. Please consider volunteering! Without volunteers, we cannot host the fair.
