D90 sends a big thank you to the O'Fallon Fire Rescue! Today while we had an HVAC repair, the smoke from a soldering tool was pulled into Carriel JH. O'Fallon Fire Rescue responded, quickly determined the cause, and cleared the building with the help of a large blower. Today is an Early Release Wednesday for D90 and the beautiful weather allowed students to spend some time outdoors out of an abundance of caution.

2025 School Board Election Information from the Illinois Association of School Boards

Please note that the deadlines for petition circulation and filing for the upcoming April 1, 2025 Consolidated Election have changed.

Starting August 20, candidates may circulate nominating petitions for signatures. Nominating forms can be found on page 52 of the 2025 Candidates' Guide, available from the Illinois State Board of Elections.

The first day petitions can be filed is Tuesday, November 12, and the last day of filing is Monday, November 18, 2024 at the local county clerk's office. This filing period is earlier than previous elections due to a change in election law (Public Act 103-600).

To assist candidates, key dates and information about running for school board are available on the IASB website. IASB is hosting a series of webinars on how to navigate running for school board. The webinars are livestreamed and open to IASB members and the public. The first webinar in the series takes place on September 12 at noon and will cover petition circulation.

There are many ways to become involved, either through volunteering (https://www.of90.net/domain/38), attending PTO meetings, communicating with teachers and staff, serving on a board or committee, reading with your child at home, supporting children with assignments, and more. A partnership with schools can be as simple as telling children how much you support their work and want them to succeed. We look forward to being your partner in student success!
