Nice to meet you

It’s a beautiful day today. Bird and I just finished a lovely lunch of early fall sweet nectarines, juicy plums, meaty and plump heirloom tomatoes, and a giant creamy ball of burrata, drizzled with 40 year old aged balsamic vinegar, I brought back from a trip to Italy. Sooo yummy. The perfect kiss to commemorate the end of the summer and the commencement of fall. The changing of the seasons. Change seems to be in the air lately. It lightly rained a couple nights ago and I thought the patter was raccoons outside.
The early golden hour sunlight is trickling through the leaves of the giant oak in our front yard in Oakland, California. I’m listening to the song Come and Go, by Martha Marlow(1). The message is not lost on me. This magnificent nearly 100 year old beauty is going to have to be taken down before the storms come in this year. Last year she sadly developed a crack in her trunk, during a hurricane like event last winter. When the arborist told me she couldn’t be saved, my heart sank. I felt like I was losing a good friend. I’ve hugged her and watered her and spoken to her over the years we have lived in this house. It’s by far my favorite house I’ve lived in. It has good energy. And I feel a lot of that energy has come from her. My girlfriends and I hung colorful glowing lanterns in her branches for Bird and my wedding this past April and she was glorious when the sun went down. Like dangling gem earrings on the matron of the party. It’s my landlord’s decision- she is too much of a liability. I understand but will miss her love and protection. She filters the light through her grey green leaves and silvery branches, when the sun is bright in the western sky. She is a nice canopy shielding us from the heat and not too busy dead in street below. We live in a beautiful canyon on the outskirts of the city. I feel the tree is speaking to me through the song on the stereo. “I am one of them. A little love is taking down the veil. I am one of them” (2). Earlier this week I asked the universe if I could meet some of my spirit guides. “The endless sky, breaking me into a thousand pieces, I am one of them. A little fear is taking down the veil. I am all of them.” Time for change and it is hard. I will miss staring out the window at her. I have various views of her in my house… from my spot on the couch, my office desk, and my bed. She is just awe inspiring. “I thank you for what you’ve done… You spread a hopeful feeling, a golden meaning, through the sun.”.(3) I realized that she is one of my spirit guides. They come in all forms! And I got met more! I didn’t realize their all around us in all forms! The universe is an incredible living being and will provide you with answers if you are still enough to listen. I hear messages through lyrics of songs and see Angel numbers daily. I am following their messages like a treasure hunt to living my purpose.
My favorite site to reference their meanings is sacredscribesangelnumbers. I go to her site several times a day. Everything is energy. It’s up to you to learn how to use it responsibly.

Change of the Season Fruit Salad (with Burrata)
2 large nectarines
2 medium plums
2 medium heirloom tomatoes
Basil leaves
Burrata (optional but OMG!)
Toasted Pecans (optional)

Drizzle THE BEST Olive Oil and ITALIAN Balsamic VInegar (no added sugar ot anything… although that is also yummy but not so good for you) (also that you can AFFORD!!) It makes a difference in taste! Trust me! Sprinkle Maldon Flake Salt and fresh cracked pepper. And fresh basil!

This morning I sautéed a medium Yukon Gold potato, some wild mushrooms and greens! Topped with a poached egg and a splash of truffle oil! Healthy and yummy way to start the day!
Everything but the egg is vegan, healthy and delicious!

I have been gathering some skills to share with you, from all over the world and through life experiences. I am the owner of Rocky's Market and Two Local Girls in Oakland, California. I am expanding my healing practice to include clean cooking classes, coaching, energy work (clearing energy from your house), sound healing with tuning forks, bells and singing bowls. I was trained in Sedona, Arizona in the crystalline sound bowls, but have yet to acquire the beauties.
