How do we trust those we're supposed to trust when ...
CIA Files Say Staffers Committed S*x Crimes Involving Children. They Weren’t Prosecuted. Declassified CIA inspector general reports show a pattern of abuse and a repeated decision by federal prosecutors not to hold agency personnel accountable.
“When you see something that is not right, not fair, not just, you have a moral obligation to do something, to say something. Dr. King inspired us to do just that,” (former Congressman John Lewis (D-GA), “the conscience of the US Congress”)
For those who care, try to help at least ONE (but prayerfully many more) Native American family have a joyous holiday season by helping to bring home their daughter. As of 2016, the National Crime Information Center has reported 5,712 cases of missing American Indian and Alaska Native women and girls. Strikingly, the U.S Department of Justice missing persons database has only reported 116 cases. The majority of these murders are committed by non-Native people on Native-owned land.
THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!!!!

November 25th - International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women
If you were raised in a household wherein the women and girls in the family were loved, protected and treated with kindness and respect, today is another opportunity to give THANKS!
Take a little time today (and much more time starting tomorrow) to work to provide love, protection and respect for those women and girls who do NOT enjoy such freedom …
The United Nations General Assembly has designated November 25th as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (Resolution 54/134). The premise of the day is to raise awareness of the fact that women around the world are subject to r**e, domestic violence and other forms of violence.

Did you know that human trafficking is one of the fastest-growing crimes, generating over 150 billion dollars a year? That’s five times more than what Coca-Cola makes globally!!!!
This has to change if we want to end human trafficking. Join A21 and the I-S.H.I.E.L.D. Foundation to help end the abuse and exploitation!
• Stop exploitation by putting traffickers behind bars, which prevents the buying and selling of additional individuals.
• Bring justice to survivors of human trafficking and thousands of victims caught in exploitation.
• Strengthen the judicial system by raising awareness of this crime, educating leaders, and enforcing laws that hold traffickers accountable.
Legal prosecution of traffickers is one of the most challenging and expensive things to do. But it’s one of the most important. You can help us bring justice to more survivors by donating today. ALL donations, of any amount, gladly accepted!

Unfortunately, the sad truth is that very few traffickers are ever convicted, making this crime low in risk, and high in reward. How can this be so?
A21 Greece is welcoming a brave new survivor into our care. She is now free from s*x trafficking in Greece and starts her journey to healing in the hopes of a restored future. LISTEN CAREFULLY to your children!
YOUR CHILD PRIVATE PART IS NOT A SNACK!
One day, a little girl told her teacher “my uncle licked my cookie” the teacher thought nothing of it and said “next time ask for another cookie”. Months go by, and the mother of the child was talking to the teacher about a rash on the child’s “cookie” and that’s when the teacher realized what the child was trying to say.
Here’s the problem. If you do not teach your children the proper names for their parts, people can miss important signs of s*xual abuse.
P***s and va**na are not bad words. Basic anatomy isn’t wrong and there’s no such thing as anatomy being “age appropriate”.

Vicarious traumatization (VT) is a transformation in the self of a trauma worker or helper that results from empathic engagement with traumatized clients and their reports of traumatic experiences. It is a special form of countertransference stimulated by exposure to the client's traumatic material. It's hallmark is disrupted spirituality, or a disruption in the trauma workers' perceived meaning and hope. The term was coined specifically with reference to the experience of psychotherapists working with trauma survivor clients. Others, including Saakvitne, Gamble, Pearlman, and Lev (2000) have expanded its application to a wide range of persons who assist trauma survivors, including clergy, front-line social workers, justice system professionals, health care providers, humanitarian workers, journalists, and first responders.

Our Story
BACKGROUND: The seeds for I-S.H.I.E.L.D. (IOTAS Saving, Healing, Improving, Empowering Lives Daily) were sown in 1978. From that time until today, Bro. Robert Clark, the 21st International Grand Polaris of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. (2013-2017), has been addressing issues of sexual assault and domestic abuse in his personal life and professional life, as well as through his community service endeavors. Moreover, his experiences after relocating to Oakland, California in 1981 brought to his attention the need to address this issue at home and abroad. Sadly, Oakland is considered a ‘hot spot’ for human trafficking.
Starting with his campaign for Grand Polaris in 2012, Bro. Clark presented his ‘Vision’ for Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Incorporated to be recognized worldwide as an organization that addresses issues of human trafficking and sexual assault, both nationally and internationally.
In 2015, IGP Clark met Ms. Chan-Tresa Hester Douglas, a national spokesperson on issues of sexual assault and survivor of sexual assault in the military. Sis. Hester Douglas (a U.S. Army veteran, as well as a member of Iota Sweethearts, Inc. and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.) suggested creating a program within Iota Phi Theta that would not only address sexual assault and human trafficking, but also issues of domestic violence, elder abuse and bullying. The result of their conversation was a 5-Point Program to address the issues they deemed significant and important for not only the African American community, but also the world: Human Trafficking, Sexual Abuse, Domestic Abuse, Elder Abuse, and Child Abuse/Bullying. Finally, Iota Phi Theta 1st Lady Felita Clark (also a member of Iota Sweethearts, Inc. and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.) suggested the acronym “I-S.H.I.E.L.D.” (Iotas Healing, Improving, Empowering Lives Daily): Hence, the creation of the I-S.H.I.E.L.D. Initiative.
On August 1, 2016, the I-S.H.I.E.L.D. Foundation, Inc. (a 501[c][3] non-profit agency) was officially incorporated in California and will continue to fight abuse, in collaboration with Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., Iota Sweethearts, Inc. and other anti-abuse organizations nationally and internationally. Now, through the Foundation, grants, donations and other funding sources can now be secured, and supporters can make tax-deductible contributions to further the mission, goals and initiatives of I-S.H.I.E.L.D.
