Do you know what mom wants? She wants to skip the brunch wait times on Sunday and go to brunch on Saturday. at Edith’s. She told us. We talked. We’ll be running some nice brunch specials on our cafe menu including fried chicken biscuit with gravy and a sunny up egg, pictured in front there. Mimosas if she wants em’. It also happens to be Stereosonic Saturday with on vinyl all afternoon. This will be a good thing, we promise.

Case is on fire this week. First stonefruit of the season popped up with nectarines from Rojas and Cherries from so naturally we did what we do. And we’ve got a coffee cake inspired sour cream rhubarb pie that will change your morning.

Four years has gone by so fast. To those of you that got a strawberry key lime pie at that first pop up in my driveway four years ago today, how are your joints? Mine hurt too.

STEREOSONIC SATURDAYS with dj slim corvelli begins this this week! Brunch, pie, mimosas, biscuit sandos, micheladas, erotic fiction, games, and whatever else you/we want to do really. Pop psych, jazz, library, funk and vinyl + more from 11-3pm, all ages, come by!

In 2022 we doubled down on Edith’s and our commitment to this magical city when we signed the lease for our flagship brick and mortar cafe in Uptown. Opening the doors came with challenges, but eventually we did on April 29th, 2023 - thanks to your support. Our first year has been extremely rewarding but definitely not easy. It’s true what they say, though - “nothing with meaning is easy”. On April 27th we are throwing a party to celebrate US. We’ll have specials, custom anniversary merch, DJs, free , and a ton of other rad things - hell we are still thinking of stuff and activities to add to the day. Mark your calendars, join us for a good time/lomg time, bring your dogs and lovers, okay getting sentimental now so signing off 🫡

PAY IT FORWARD is the newest community resource program we are running at the cafe. We keep a gift card behind the register that can any guest can add funds to. That gift card is then used to purchase cafe food and beverage for guests who do not have the means to pay (and we’ll never ask why that is). We are happy to add this resource alongside having an always available bathroom (regardless of purchase) and penny oats program - low barrier access to hot food for our unhoused neighbors for a penny in cash. Ask about the pay it forward program at the register if you would like to contribute 🙃

Starting tomorrow we will be at North Berkeley farmer’s market on Thursdays, and Downtown Berkeley farmer’s markets on Saturdays 🤘🌞🤘

It has been about 5,000 followers since we have introduced ourselves so here’s alittle admin reveal! Edith’s Pie is owned by two low lifes living the pie life, and our names are Mike and Jeff (that’s me!). We both come from different sides of the same coin but bring together a combined 25+ years of experience working in the hospitality industry to Edith’s every day. We were both born in the greater Bay Area and share a deep love for this region, the culture it provides, delicious seasonal offerings, and everyday unique opportunities that come with being rooted in Oakland. We are fully committed serving our community and practicing forward-thinking business practices in front and behind the scenes in what we do.

Mike and I chat over text or instagram about every five minutes about the business, sandwiches, menu ideas, important +urgent memes, cultivating growth, scary tax bills, etc. We have been doing that since July of 2020 or so. In April we will celebrate our fourth year as a business and first year of operating our flagship brick and mortar. Come by the shop and say hello 🫵

As a California cook I never really understood the thrill of ramps until I moved to Chicago. Luke warm take. They’re good. But they aren’t like thaaaat good. But what I realized is that they beckon the thaw. For me, that joy comes with asparagus. It’s been a hard winter for us in the shop. I cannot tell you the elation I felt seeing asparagus at market yesterday. So enjoy this boring photo and know that it filled our hearts. Come see what else we have in store.

EARTH TO MICH is back on menu for any and all brunch heads. Our michelada contains our house peach espelette & aleppo hot sauce, sze peppercorn, lime, and a few other secret tricks. It then is topped with non-alcoholic Hop Water that showcases mosaic and nelson hops. Sure, you can switch it out for a if you wanna to get crunchy. Open til 8 tonight 🙃

Join us on Valentine’s Day for the opening reception of Gallery For Broken Hearts! The showing will feature pieces from 23 artists ranging from our very own staff, regular customers, and other celebrated Bay Area artists. Seven performances will take place from poetry readings to musicians. We will be serving pie, coffee, tea (finally! thx ), and libations. The cafe will stay decked out with pieces until close on 2/17 if you happen to miss the opening. Why pick one valentine when we can all choose each other? See you next week!
