A summer day camp that trusts kids to explore their passions and unlock their creativity. Grades Pre- Est. 1980.
A summer day camp that trusts kids, so they can trust themselves.
Camp Dates: Jun 21- Aug 20, 2021, Monday - Friday (actual start and end date for employment will vary based on site-specific training and move-in/move-out schedule)
Camp Hours: 8:00am - 6:00pm (actual staff shifts will vary)
At Steve & Kate's, we put kids in the driver’s seat and staff come along for the ride. Campers choose minute-to-minute what they do, because kids who learn to make decisions today build the self-confidence they’ll need to wrangle unknowns tomorrow. Sound like something you can get behind? If so, we're looking for motivated babysitters, teachers, coaches, students, athletes, art, tech and education enthusiasts (and anyone else that’s ready to play hard and be goofy) to join our team. As a Summer Staff member, you’ll sharpen your inherent leadership skills and do meaningful work, while getting an immersive summer of creativity and play.
The job in a nutshell.
You will be responsible for a stable group of 10-15 campers (as determined by local regs.), consisting of siblings, friends and kids of similar ages whenever possible. These groups will stay the same for a week at a time, and at some camp locations, for the entire session -- think of each like a “mini-camp” within a larger camp. During the camp day, each group will have their own indoor space and set of equipment, allowing campers to immerse themselves in activities of interest, as well as try new activities individually or with the group. Media lab, sewing, crochet, drawing, games and blocks are just some of the activities kids will be able to explore. Campers and staff will also have time to be outdoors as a group (while maintaining social distance from other groups). Outdoor activities will include free play, workshops, and shows, and we’ll also rent outrageous recreational equipment to add some variety, like mini-golf or laser tag (which will be sanitized between groups).
A bit more about us: Steve & Kate's Camp.
We’re the people who pie-oneered self-directed summer camps starting way back in 1980 and introduced the most flexible and fair attendance system in the industry. At Steve & Kate’s, kids decide what they do and where they do it, giving them the confidence to risk, fail and rise and develop self-knowledge and deep trust in their instincts and capabilities.
