It’s Yahshi here and I want to give you an update. 🩷 It’s been really hard for me to form the words. Sometimes it looks like the words are moving on the page. I’ve sat down for months and tried to write what I would share, and broke down every time. It’s not easy to talk about, and I know it’s time. Today marks 5 months from the car accident. Healing is such a journey and all I can do is take it one day at a time and be patient with myself and the process.

I am so grateful for all of your support, kind messages, donations, meals, and healing prayers. I feel so blessed to have such wonderful community, family, and friends supporting me through this challenging time.

I want to assure you all that I am getting better, my mobility, cognitive function, and feeling like myself is much better than it was and I am on a path towards 100%.

I am still out of work so all of your donations are greatly appreciated as they are funding my upfront costs of oxygen therapy, cranial sacral, massage, water therapy, supplements, and more. The link to the meal train is in the bio where you can read more, and support.

People often ask about the inspiration behind a recipe. 😌✨ For our banana cardamom coffeecake, we were inspired by the comfort and simplicity of banana bread. Food is a way to connect to memories, and so many of us have a story to tell about banana bread. Then we combined our favorite components of coffeecake - a tender cake, and crunchy crumb topping. With the flavors of caramelized banana and brown butter, we found black cardamom to be the perfect pair. Enjoy our banana cardamom coffeecake in a pastry box coming soon to you! ☕️🍰

The kitchen is my living room. A fire ignites in me when I think of ways to evoke feelings of nostalgia with my baked goods. Yahshi Bakes started out of my passion for sharing joy with people, through delicious pastries. I love that food allows us to connect with our ancestry, share stories, rituals, and memories. I bake because it allows me a creative outlet to share the wanders of flavors in my mind. I spend time thinking of ways to transform everything I love about a chai, into a cookie. The science of baking is what pulls me in. It humbles me, always. I’m reminded to be patient, precise, and playful all at the same time, but I’ve found myself losing sight of the things I love about my craft since doing it at a professional level. I haven’t wanted to admit that my relationship to it has changed, and this year I’m truly committed to my joy. Right now, that looks like being very intentional about what I share, and when I share. I’m working on spending time developing recipes, planning lovely experiences for you, and more. I will share part two soon, but for now, here’s some context.
