East Oakland Youth Development Center
Nurturing the holistic development of youth from kindergarten into adulthood.
Margot Roache-Green,, former EOYDC board member, served as a Division Director for 13 years at the Center for Employment Training (CET). There, she helped ensure community members were prepared for employment in tech companies in Silicon Valley, including roles such as electronic technicians and assemblers.
After CET, Margot worked with IBM for 15 years before returning to a career with a human-service focus.
Believing that healthcare is a right for all, especially for those without access, Margot dedicated the next 20 years to ensuring healthcare access for the community, particularly for the underemployed, unemployed, and others without employment benefits.
Margot never held a job she didn’t like because she chose positions based on the mission of the business or organization. She feels a deep obligation to give back, inspired by the sacrifices of those who came before her.
Congratulations, Margot Roaché-Green, one of our 2024 Champion For Youth awardees!

Milan Balinton, one of Golden State Warriors 2022 Impact Warriors, is the Executive Director of the African American Community Service Agency (AACSA), an organization dedicated to providing quality educational, cultural, social, and recreational programs, services, and activities in order to perpetuate and strengthen African American identity, culture, values, traditions, knowledge, and family life.
Milan is a Bay Area native, born in Oakland, raised in San Francisco, and has been nurtured in San Jose for the last 20 years. He earned a Master of Public Administration from Golden Gate University and a Bachelor of Arts from San Jose State University. He continues to serve his community and his universities, helping to develop youth and mentor them in their educational pursuits with the help of organizations such as the Tiger Woods Foundation, 100 Black Men of Silicon Valley, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Milan was also one of the many Santa Clara County community leaders who successfully petitioned the County to become the first in the state to declare Juneteenth a paid holiday.
Prior to devoting his work fulltime to AACSA, Milan utilized the public speaking skills handed down to him from his grandmother, the woman who introduced him to the NAACP as a road to success beyond his neighborhood and served as a voice for those who very often went and continue to go unheard. “Give back to the community, for many have sacrificed so that we can be free, and you must do the same,” are the words from Milan’s grandmother that he keeps in his pocket and pulls out as often as needed.
Congratulations, Milan Balinton, one of our 2024 Champion For Youth awardees!

🎓✨A round of applause for our amazing 2024 graduates! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
(5th, 8th, 12th and college)
Scenes from our graduation ceremony last night: Each graduate received a special gift from their current program (as they exit) and a welcoming gift from the program they are entering. We took a walk down memory lane with some of our older graduates and heard words of wisdom from staff and interns that we know will serve our graduates well as they enter this next phase. We hope everyone was listening!! 👀😂😅
A big thank you to everyone who took the time to come celebrate with us. We are sooo proud of all of our graduates and can’t wait to see what the future holds for each of you! 🌟🎉 🎓🫶🏾
